We invite you to experience our terrific stagecoach trip through Götzens, Birgitz and Axams. Three Tyrolean Olympic villages, that are called the “Pearl of the low mountain range” because of their inherent natural beauty and glorious history. The romantic stagecoachtrip with proud horses in the front starts in Axams, a village famous as the scene of the Winter Olympics in 1964 and 1976. Further we reach Birgitz, where we pass the beautiful movie location of the classics “The emperor`s hunters in Birgitz”. After having passed a few farmhouses, older than 500 years and traditionally decorated with flowers, you can visit Tirol`s most beautiful pilgrimage church in Götzens as a crowning ending of our horse-drawn carriage. This is an unforgetable experience, which can even be enjoyed during the winter season on one of our comfortable sleighs drawn by strong horses. Our unique stagecoach courtyard, traditionally built of 700 m3 massive wood, is situated in Axams, above Tirol`s capital Innsbruck. From there you can enjoy an outstanding Panorama of the Tyrolean alps. Fritz Ehrensperger, the owner and operator of the courtyard, is widely known by his international evnts and Performances. Fritz himself leads his guests on the stagecoach trips and makes them memorable. Who could do that better than the boss of the yard? His assistants, all certified waggoners, help him fulfilled with passion to their work. A befitting and very popular ending to the trip is the visit in our wildromantic “Rößlstube”, a cosy snuggery with Tyrolean live-music.
It started off as being a disappointment as it had been advertised as being a horse and slay ride? But as the snow had melted by the time we arrived it had to be changed to a horse and cart ride instead. It lasted about an hour after joining it in Axams and being taken all around Axams and then into Gotzens before ending up in the farm where the horses were stabled and we were taken into the barn where we all sat down drank hot chocolate and apple strudel before our cart driver who was also the farm owners son entertained us by singing and playing keyboards before we left and returned to our hotel club Gotzen again on our NH coach.
This was highly enjoyable and we have no problem in recommending it as well worth doing if you have the chance.

This world-class ski resort was originally built for the 1964 Winter Olympic Games.
It is not the biggest ski resort of Austria, but that is what it makes it so nice. You still have space at the pistes and the prices here are nice. It is easy to reach by plane to Innsbruck.
We are comming here for years for a long weekend skiing with friends and we love it here, for the great snow and the friendliness of the people

Highly recommend this ride, you get great views of the city. Be sure to go right to the top. there are 3 stops along the ride. However, if the weather is bad, they will not go further than the 2nd stop. The ride is easy and comfortable. there is a restaurant one of the stop.
sensational trip and very picturesque.

If you’re looking for challenging blacks you won’t find them here. Also the area is quite limited in size. At peak times it can be busy with day trippers & weekenders.
But the plus points outweigh the downsides:
20 mins drive from Innsbruck; a wonderful top-to-bottom run which is 5 miles long; varied terrain; comfy bottom-warming 6seater chairlift & good food & apres on the hill.

We stayed in Sporthotel Nockhofweg, Mutters.
About 10 minutes walk from village centre, 3/4 minutes from the tram stop,a uphill walk to Muttereralm and 10 minuets from Mutters outdoor swimming pool.
A quiet beautiful village which has won best Tirol village several times.
The best way is to buy 1, 2 or 3 day Innsbruck Pass which gives entry to numerous Mountains, museums and places of interest plus some transport including the tram to Mutters.
Lots of free hiking trips and so many things to do.
Paths are well marked for walkers or if less ambitious the views alone are stunning.
We have visited this area at all times of the year for over 30 years and fully recommend the area.
They always aim to improve the region. The cable cars take prams, pushchairs and wheelchairs plus transport bikes up the mountain.
Bikes can be hired as can ski equipment and sleds in winter.
A child's ski school and ski lessons for all ages are also available.
We used the new mountain carts last September, hired sleds in winter and enjoyed the free snow walking events.
The village swimming pool which also has tennis courts has a good restaurant. Huts on Muttereralm do excellent meals.
For family fun, or couples/ singles
This is almost next to heaven.

A new way to climb a mountain: not far from Innsbruck’s famed “Goldenes Dachl”, an amorphous ice formation glitters in the sun. Upon closer inspection, however, it reveals itself as the lower terminus of the Hungerburgbahn hybrid funicular railway, whose striking appearance sprung from the imagination of star architect Zaha Hadid.
