Try to arrive early since huge tour groups make passing through this area very difficult. We arrived around 13:00 and it took hours to pass through walkways and stairs made for one or two people. When you add hikers from the other direction, the wait was unbelievable.
The loudspeakers from the tour guides really took away from the serenity of this location. Imagine 50+ tour groups within earshot all shouting at the same time.

Hongcun Ancient Village

Reviewed By Jarko2015 - Amsterdam, The Netherlands

I was a bit disappointed in this village. It's certainly charming and interesting, but it's mainly packed with restaurants and souvenir shops, making it far less authentic than I'd hoped. Getting there from Tunxi is very straight forward, taking a two hour bus ride for RMB24. I found the Xidi village more interesting and easier to manage, especially as it's less crowded than Hongcun. The other issue with Hongcun is that despite the entrance fee of RMB104, you'll also need to pay for other houses and sites once you're inside the village. Pretty outrageous. The three main halls are all worth seeing and thankfully, they are included in the entrance fee. I was expecting this to be an entire day trip, but after only 3 hours wandering around, I'd seen all there was to see. Perhaps because I'd already experienced the fabulous Pingyao ancient town, it's difficult for anywhere else to measure up.

Spent 2 days, first visiting Phase 2 (熊出没) and second day was spent visiting Pharse 4 (魔幻世界).
This is a very nice themed park which has 4 pharses. Phase 1 is the original and is located away from the other 3 pharses which are located together. Pharse 3 is a Water Park which would be an excellent choice for the hot & humid summer.
Must admit that the kids have a huge amount of fun on these 2 days. Very nicely done themed park based off a popular Chinese Cartoon 熊出没.

...that is arguably even more impressive than Hongcun due to its larger size and less polished nature. What it lacks in 'sights', it makes up for in beautiful courtyards which are now guesthouses and still lived-in old residences, all incredibly ornate in decoration. Even in the sweltering heat, this place is a joy in which to get lost.

We were totally enthralled with the Mountain of Nine Lotuses. It is easy to see why Li Bai (701-762) visited in the mountain and was intoxicated with the fascinating scenery of nine lotuses shaped peaks upon green river. He described the landscape in his poem. Mt. Jiuhuashan now boasts ofexquisite architecture and grand structures of temples.

The path up this mountain is completely made up of man-made stairs. It took us four hours to get to the top with a few rest stops and walking at a good pace. I have never hiked a mountain with stairs before so that was interesting. The views were beautiful. There were vendors on the way up who sold various tourist items, food, and bottled drinks. That was also new to me. Restrooms were available at several places along the way. It was a great hike!

Od mieszkańców warto kupić ich domowej roboty pierożki i zupę, które sprzedają z rowero-wózków. Warto zaplanować cały dzień na pobyt w tym miejscu. Polecam dla rodzin, jak i dla par.

A nice natural Chinese park, certainly the most beautiful one within 3h from Wuhan. As usual in China for such kind of places, everything is organised for tourists to save time and get to the top of the hill in a minium of time but the river and the several Waterfalls are pretty nice and enjoyable.
There are more beautiful national parks in China so no need to go there specially since it is in the middle of nowhere but if you live between Wuhan and Hefei, it is a good place to visit.

Huangshan is many things: World Heritage Site, National Scenic Area, protected area, and a "geopark." I'm not quite sure what a "geopark" is expected to be, but I assume it has to have important geological features. This is certainly the case for Huangshan. There are incredible granite rock formations, ancient glacially scoured sites, deep Valleys, etc. I'm not a geologist, but I can imagine anybody interested in rocks, Mountains, and geological processes will love Huangshan. All the caveats for visiting and avoiding the crowds of Huangshan more generally apply.

Jinghu Park of Wuhu

Reviewed By Allen A - Michigan

I love Wuhu. If you want to see old and new China Wuhu (Anhui province) is the town to visit. A few foreigners teach here so one is not ever along for long, there are many interesting students who will approach you n a bus to practice their English (no fears here and I have spent about 15 months here), wonderful place called Temple Mountain where one can visit and watch the monks go thru rituals. The park mentioned here was build a long time ago to connect two rivers and help the river trade/transportation. Oddly, in a very small museum on the walk around the lake mentions an American movie star of Chinese decent who helped negotiate the surrender of Japan to China with the US help. Many of the sculptures in this city are described in English and that museum had plenty of English describing the things in the museum.
The Sino-Canada College is located here and Wuhu University has wonderful student share programs with Australia. I have read Wuhu University is one of the two universities which allows foreign students and some years has students from 40 countries.
Their River Park along the Yangtze River is about 4 kilometers long, beautiful, safe and filled with art. We go there frequently.
