I took a quick walking tour here one morning, after a flight to Istanbul was rerouted to Adana. This is a beautiful mosque. The outer entranceway is clean and the interior is marvelously solemn. A kind cleaning lady let me in, and I was the only person there for a while. Special moment. A nice garden surrounds the mosque and the river is close by. Worth a trip if you're in town.

50 km from Adana with the last 10 km on dirty roads. Road improvement ongoing so should be a pleasure driving in the near future.
Bridge is impressive. Great photo shooting location with the bridge in back ground.
The road around the ravine (passes through the rock) is extremely narrow and not for the faint hearted, especially when passing oncoming traffic.
The bridge top has hand rails only on one side. Hold on tightly to young kids.
Dusty road but worth the visit.

This is apparently the oldest vehicle bridge in the world that is still open. It is lit up at night and you can take some nice photos with the reflections of the mosque and other buildings into the river.
It is easy to park on the Hilton side of the bridge for free, then walk across it into Adana. The Adana Merkez Park and Adana Merkez Camii are very close to this bridge.
There is not a great deal to see in Adana in terms of historical sites, so you may as well come and take a stroll across whilst in Adana.

Constructed in 1507 with an extension added in 1541, this black and white marble mosque is perhaps the prettiest of the older mosques in Adana. Built in a style resembling mosques in Northern Syria and constructed of black and white marble. Pretty tiles from Iznik in the prayer niche. Look particularly at the elaborate window structures.

Anavarza Ruins

The incredibly huge area of the ancient city of Anazarbus has not been unearthed yet. Still once you arrive to the ruins (turn right at the village of Aysehoca on the road from Ceyhan to Kadirli), you get the first impression at one of the city gates. A very wide field of unearthed ancient ruins beneath an impressive mountain covered with one of the largest Castles I have seen in Anatolia. After enjoying this scene turn right further into to village. After a few hundred metres you will find a small "museum" behind a blue painted gate with beautiful artifacts. Continue from there to a school building to find a large Emperor's gate to the city. Continue to the end of the village (just a few hundred meters). At the right of the road, you can see a huge stadium, the rocks have been "shaved" to make straight walls and some rows for specators caved into it. Across the road you just have to climbe a few meters to have a breathteaking view over the wide space of the ancient city and the castle. Don't miss, if you are in the area!
