The perfect stay-cation
Reviewed By Planet_tamsWith covid-19 Restrictions, we opted to stay in German. Hotel Bavaria, Zweisel made us feel that was the best decision. The Staff are fantastic. From little touches on the breakfast table, helping personalise my husband's birthday dinner, and a fresh made bed and warm greetings everyday, they are the reason we will return. The indoor pool is warm enough for my baby to swim and even for a full hotel, never too busy. My husband found the sauna relaxing each afternoon. The food is fantastic. Mutliple options per day and always delicious. Sanitary is important and gloves and disinfectant are required for buffet use. Wandering direct from the hotel was easy with the manduca and you can choose tracks to suit all levels. We found it so quiet and relaxing. The hotel is central located for day trips to treetop walks and animal parks. And for half day trips to glass factory or shopping. Zwiesel has a great deal with the nationalpark and public transport so you can opt not to drive during your stay if you choose. The all-in-1 bodywash rather than soap and shampoo is the only negative thing I could find from a full week experience. I Would 100% recommend.

The service level of the house-keeping-service needs improvement
Reviewed By niceplaces10We have booked the hotel well in advance and there was and is nothing to complain about. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is modern and has all facilities, you are looking for. The furniture are plastic veneer and the bathroom is basic. We had three rooms on the second floor, in on of them the TV program selection was not working. The heating was working perfect. The view from the room balcony has a car park in front (Discounter!), but the back offers a scenery. The breakfast selection is sufficient and the service great, well worth the price. The room service started its cleaning tour though the corridors at 07:00 am!!! NO chance that you can miss this noise! On the way to breakfast, you will pass open doors of the back of house (room service), such as wash-machine, towel store and storage area. For your room cleaning, the door remains wide open and the hoover is plugged-in at the corridor! Used dishes of the room service are collected on the floor in the corridor. There is a huge area of improvement required, to reach a good standard.

Reviewed By muirean2000Hotel zur Waldbahn is only a few steps away from the train station. It has very nice spacious rooms with beautiful balconies and a pool. It offers special weekend packages. Having dinner at the fantastic restaurant is simply a must!

Reviewed By Erik MVery large rooms / apartments with a friendly excellent service. There is plenty of parking and even a wellness in the basement. It seems a little difficult to find as the last part of road is narrow.

They pre-arranged with the hotelier to provide menus in English for our benefit during our stay. The area around Zwiesel to my mind is better than that of the Black Forest - i.e. more trees.

Friendly family hotel
Reviewed By livespitzThis is a very nice family hotel - meaning it's run by a nice family, very friendly and helpful, but not best for families, the clientele is typically of a more advanced age looking for a relaxing, quiet place, for which this is definitely a good spot, but probably not the best place to turn up with lively children. Everything is well looked after, with beautiful decoration, it also has a little swimming pool, spa and gym (with defined usage hours, to keep the noise level down in resting hours - see above). Food is also good, and it's in walking distance to the centre of this pretty little town. From there you can get free shuttle busses (included in the tourist tax) to the Bavarian Forest National Park (the oldest one in Germany). My room was of moderate size, but nice and clean and perfectly fine unless you want to spend extended hours in your room.

Reviewed By karl37deSehr ruhig gelegenes Hotel mit super nettem Wirtsehepaar. Sehr reichhaltiges Frühstücksbuffett. Sehr schöne Zimmer mit TV und Wlan. Die Gegend ist ideal zum Wandern oder Biken. Entfernung zur Bayerwaldsauna nur 750 Meter. Wir kommen gerne wieder.
