Clean and comfortable self-catering accommodation set within a beautiful, spacious and relaxing environment. You can relax by the swimming pool after a hard day's travel or use our wifi Internet access to catch up with friends back home. We have plenty of camping pitches for those on a very tight budget.
I stayed at Burkes Paradise in July 2017 (a bit belated - sorry!) with two friends on a long trip around Southern Africa. The Burkes were very generous and helpful as we tried to book trains onward, struggled without enough cash and generally negotiate our way around Zim. The rooms were hostel-like, set in a pretty garden near the main house, with other rooms for hanging out in. Good base for Bulawayo.

Ubuntu hostel is full of quirky and attractive furniture. It is in a quiet neighbourhood just a few minutes' walk from the main street of Mutare. It is hard to exaggerate the warmth of the welcome from Takunda. He was a mine of information and encouraged me to climb Mount Nyangani, describing how to get there. He even organised breakfast at 6am so I could make an early start.

Lilys' Lodge is situated in a quiet upmarket suburban area, approx 3km from city centre. There are various restaurants in close proximity to the Lodge. Hillside Dams is a 5 minute walk from us and we have a beautiful shopping complex 10 minutes from the lodge. We have a Wi-Fi service on site. We arrange tours to various places of interest such as the Matopos, Khami ruins, Great Zimbabwe.
We stayed for 1 night, lily was nice and the place is very clean. BUT, no wifi, no lounge/bar no nothing except the free parking. Do not trust lily, ask what you are paying for before giving her any money. She said she will organize us a tour at matobo park, when we got there she told us we should pay the entrance fees, the driver/guide was actually just her friend and we had problems getting in because he's not a guide, and she took half of the money to herself. Just go somewhere else, the clean place not worth the trust issues.

Fothergill Island has re-opened on the 1st of August 2021 after an extensive refurbishment program and aims to maintain the rich traditions and history of the island. The inspired design and refinement of the new tented structures embrace pastel colour tones that are a delicate spectrum of olive greens, lily pinks, turquoise blues and chic yellow hues that encompass two unique and intimate camps blending in and out of one another as one and are both gathered around large sitting, dining, library, bar and pool areas that are perfect for relaxation and subsequently melt into the surrounding natural environment, that is a mix of lake, mopani forest and the large floodplains of Matusadona National Park. The overall atmosphere of the camp is cool, light and airy, in keeping with the beauty of the environment and taking inspiration from the profusion of lilies populating our central eco-pond. The wildlife and environment across the lake, flood plains and into the mountains of the Matusadona National Park are so diverse and boast enormous concentrations of plains game and predators, that land and water activities conducted by foot, on vehicles or boats can deliver an all round truly African safari experience.
The water is full of disease. Been seriously sick for months from the water. Staff were not treated well by management which was very disappointing to see. An expensive mistake. Would not stay there again.

Clean and comfortable backpacker accommodation, 500 meters from the center of Victoria Falls.
A wonderful Air B n B place, which has joined a superbly well managed lodge. Lorraine is extremely helpful, gives clear, honest tips and the wifi area by the lovely thatch is a calming spot. In the season I had visited, wild elephants were roaming around on the outside street. All staff is friendly, well mannered and the cooks still give that rare things - a full on multi spread breakfast ( see if included in your room deal) The ensuite room was perfect. Little touches like a clothes hanger ( Victoria Falls wetness has been considered), a shower glass cabin to maintain dry area in the toilet, a list of places to order food from and a mosquito mesh which felt like an ole world set. Carry your own torch, no smoking inside and expect room lights to be replaced by bedside lamps if you want to read, as the lights seemed solar powered. The campus itself is lovely and a half hour walk from the centre of town. A big shout out to the two chefs, the gardners and the lady cleaning the wifi thatch area. And Lorraine. Thank you to the gentleman who honored his word and helped me get comfortable with the place as I walked in.

Small World Lodge Greenwood Park is located close to Harare City Centre and has camping, private room, and single sex dormitory accommodation. We have beautiful gardens to relax in and a bar and restaurant service. Wifi is available free of charge.
First of all, the "City Centre" unit is NOT anywhere near the city centre! If you're caught out after dark it's either a taxi ride or a 2.5km walk down a lot of dark streets with no street lighting, not recommended. I stayed in the Avondale unit first, but as there was nothing in that area and it's 5km from town I moved to the other. There wasn't a single traveller in either over the 5 days I stayed! One of the women on reception actually took money out of the bundle that I was due to pay with at the end of my stay! The owner lies and attempts to placate you hoping that you'll forget or give up! For the Greenwood (centre) one; mice in the kitchen - I even pointed out the droppings in one of the drawers (still there when I left). Only one shower has hot water and any kind of pressure. The lock didn't work in another, there was no light in one of the toilets, no seat in another! Sandra, who works on reception during the day was possibly the least helpful receptionist on this 4 month trip. I felt as though I was inconveniencing her when interrupting her sitting in the sun on a lounge chair, using her phone. The responses were always the same, "I have no airtime to call them" or, "I don't know". There is a much better guest house just around the corner from the Avondale unit, with prices from $10 for a single and $14 for a double. It's easy to find online (I don't want to be seen as advertising it, so I'll leave you to look for it through onlin booking sites! But book early, it sells out quick

Unfortunately, we were misled with this one. The previous hostel has been stripped clean, ambient for two camping chairs in the "lobby". The "dorms" are two rooms, one with two beds, and one with four. There is a kitchen but was never made to seem that we could use it. The bathroom is basic, and really no hot water. It really feels like someone's empty home with some extra beds. There was free, decent wifi, however. We walked here from the train station, and to the muesum. Unfortunately, there isn't too much other stuff to see itself in Bulawayo so Packers Rest will have to try a bit harder. The staff were friendly though.
