The restaurant doesn't have any fancy decorations or things trying to grab your attention. The only thing that grabs your attention is the simple delicious meals that you are served. We tried the majority of the menu items and left satisfied and smiling. Definitely worth a try and the butter chicken was delicious.

Sometimes when you look for the place for meals, you may find the new restaurant with exquisite decoration and people are always waiting to eat there. You think, ha, here it is. Then you become one of the components of the long line. At that time, it seems that it all deserves to wait there because of your expectation towards the restaurant. When it is your turn to be served, however, only to find that the price is very high and then the dishes there turn out to be awful; the serving size is very small while some dishes are even raw, like beef. The taste is not good at all. Then you leave. After you arrive home, you find out by accident that the restaurant overcharges you for the rice you don’t even order. You are angry and call them. They say they will check, but you never get some feedback anymore. You swear you will never go there again. Next time, you look for the place for meals again and you see a small restaurant with many people waiting happily. You start hesitating if you should enter. You wonder if it deserves to enter and if the crowds know something about the restaurant. I have these two experiences in fact. My former experience told me not to believe the long line while the smile on people’s face suggested that this time it may be different. At last I entered and I believed this was one of the best experiences I ever had. I don’t regret for the awful experience I had, but I will regret if I miss the wonderful one. It is Tomato Korean Snack Restaurant that I enjoyed most. The restaurant is quite small, but not small in its customers’ volume. In fact, this is the third branch in Wenzhou and each one is popular. At the first sight, it is the transparent kitchen that draws my attention. I can observe how they make the food and check the sanitation in the kitchen. This is a piece of easy equipment, but few restaurants dare do this. And then I see people. Many customers are waiting there. Since the menu with pictures is written on the black board, customers can decide what they want easily and quickly while waiting. And before you sit down, you should order and pay the bill first so that they won’t charge you of wrong bill. When I look around, I see three different walls. Cartoon pictures are drawn on one wall and Korean superstars’ photos are hung on the second wall with a TV playing South Korean TV soaps. The third wall is for people to write down everything they want to say. I really like this kind of atmosphere and I feel cozy and relaxed when I enter the restaurant. Atmosphere here mainly means the decoration and the feeling the restaurant gives us, like what I said above. My friends and I don’t wait for too long before we sit down. The waitress serves water and cutlery as soon as we sit down friendly. The big smile is always on her face. This is the reflection of good service actually. And quite soon, our food arrives. The first one is the appetizer called kimchi, radish packed with ginger, garlic and hot peppers etc. and then pickled. In fact, it is not hot but crisp and refreshing. I do not like radish in general, but I do like this appetizer since I almost cannot taste the original radish. I ate it in other restaurants in the past, but none of them attracted me to eat them because of their color and smell. We have the second dish Jajangmyeon (15 Yuan), Korean-style noodles with soybean paste soon. It is very famous in South Korea. This dish is topped with a thick sauce made of the salty black soybean paste, diced pork and vegetables like potatoes, radish and cucumber etc. Some sesame is on the top to enhance flavor. The dish is quite attractive and you will find the taste is not too salty but rich in flavor. The noodles are smooth and pliable, along with the flavor so that you won’t miss it. Actually, the noodles are not so much, so one person can deal with it easily. If you do not like the noodles with full of flavor or you want a fresh taste, you can try Korean-style omelet rice (16 Yuan). It is mainly made of fried rice and omelet. The rice is fried with ketchup, sausage, carrot granules, and green peppers and so on. The taste of the dish is both sweet and sour. You will find that you have a better appetite after you eat it. The soft omelet along with the sweet and sour rice offers you the enjoyment of taste. At this moment, be careful of your tongue, so that you won’t bite it for the delicious food. The most famous one in the restaurant I think is the Spicy Korean Rice Cake with Cheese dish (Cheese Tteokokki) (40 Yuan), which appears on every table. There are four different rice cake pans like seafood rice cake, cheese rice cake and vegetables rice cake and so on. Cheese, vegetables, rice cake are mixed in every pan. And you can ask for side dish like Shin Ramyun, fish cake, ham and udon and so on. The price of the side dish is around 8 Yuan except the cheese, 15 Yuan. When we are eating, the pan is on fire. The cheese begins to melt, and it infiltrates the rice cake, the vegetables and even the soup. At this time, if I try to extract a rice cake from the cheesy soup, I am unsuccessful. The cheese adheres to the rice cake with strands. The rice cake is like a baby, unwilling to leave his mother. But when we finally make many strands through extracting, it is arts rather than a mess. The strands are in four directions but all end in the pan. It seems to have a very good implied meaning. We four people come from different places but now we become good friends and think about each other in Wenzhou. This makes the experience more meaningful. At first, the soup is made of the red chili paste (gochujang miso) which is not hot, tomato ketchup, sugar and so on. The taste is a little thin, but after the cheese melts, the soup becomes thick and intense without the antipathy from us. We don’t have the chance to taste the food all but we will go there again. The only disturbing thing is the sound from people and TV. The sound level is so high and sometimes we are disturbed. My recommendation is Spicy Korean Rice Cake with Cheese dish and Korean-style omelet rice. Nigiri is the special dish there, so though we don’t order it this time, I think the taste would not be bad. If you come there, you should not miss them. By the way, the pumpkin congee is in amazing taste and it is a pity that it was sold out before we arrived there. There are different kinds of soups (22 Yuan) like Korean Soybean Paste Soup. Lemon tea, Aloe tea, Pummelo tea and so on are served for 10 Yuan per cup. The atmosphere, taste, service made my experience positive and I think these elements are fair enough since they all come from the restaurant, not anything happened in the restaurant. They are also the best things in the restaurant; while the sound level belongs to the worst thing. According to what I said above, I would evaluate it by giving the following circles. The atmosphere is 4 circles and the service is 5 circles. The taste is 5 circles while the sound level is high and it can only get 2 circles. The cost performance (value) is 4 circles since you deserve to come. By the way, there is no outdoor seating, thus you should stand before it’s your turn to eat. But since you won’t wait for a long time, I give 2 circles for outdoor seating. Bar scene is pretty good and nice, so I give 4 circles. Sometimes we may have unsatisfying experience, but we should believe that most of the time, we will harvest something from the long line or you will regret it for a long time. The Tomato Korean Snack Restaurant is a restaurant where you lay down you burden and enjoy yourself and then you start anew. Zoe Qiu2014.2.25

We were there with our friend and the food was very good as was the service. The setting on the river provided a great place to walk after dinner. Very scenic!
