Huzhou (help·info) is a prefecture-level city in northern Zhejiang province, China. Lying south of the Lake Tai, it borders Jiaxing to the east, Hangzhou to the south, and the provinces of Anhui and Jiangsu to the west and north respectively. This is the type of restaurant that, looking at the entrance (even if you were very familiar with China and regular, everyday, Chinese restaurants) you would not be attracted to!This is definitively not a fancy restaurant by any standards, but the food is outstanding, with a real home-cooking taste. Each dish was excellent (obviously they specialize in lamb), but the soups (we had several, as we ate lunch at this restaurant for three straight days) were absolutely tops!!And the lady that cooks and, I believe, owns the place, is a friendly and accommodating as anybody you will ever find in the restaurant business. Just an example: the friend I was travelling with at the time we went to this restaurant is basically a vegetarian, with a bit of tolerance for chicken. And, after quite some days of enjoying the excellent Chinese fried veggies, she was really craving for a fresh green salad. Well, fifteen minutes after the lady of the house was told about this request, there it was a great green salad (something she had never been asked for!) on the table!If you are tired of your regular tea or beer with your food, try the herbal tea, available in cans and in two brands Jia do bao and Wang lao ji.I am attaching photos of the restaurant, and the restaurant's business card - it may prove useful when you are trying to locate it or phone in.

we had an upstairs private room, no minimum order amount. you order from the dishes shown downstairs. a hostess walks with you to take orders. So many varieties of food... We had good beef, fish, crabs, and veggies... my favorite was the "barley gao" or "red sugar song Gao" OMG, best dessert... whole meal cost around 5-600RMB... for 10 people... cheapest and best value meal we had during our whole trip!
