Typical cafe-restaurant on the main old square of this nice old town. Kitchen is surprisingly diverse and nice. Of course fresh fish. Eating outside is really nice (old town square), inside has the café with billiards style atmosphere. Service really friendly, prices very reasonable.

On a Holiday Rally with 21 UK caravans in attendance just down the road at Camping De Vier Bannen 43 of us wanted to celebrate the end of our holiday in Schouwen Duiveland with a restaurant meal. After researching the options and speaking with Martijn at the Barbier our wish was soon a reality. Martijn assembled for us our own three course menu of various tasty local dishes which everybody studied and pre-ordered their choice a day before the meal. On the day and after a couple of drinks everybody seated for the meal, Martijn and his staff worked hard to serve all 43 each course together whilst being very attentive to the needs to the two young children dining with us. It was interesting to hear that diners didn't only comment on the nice presentation and taste of their own meal but also that of their neighbours. This did result in a request for another 'end of rally celebration meal' a week later when a group of 19 of our party staying on a little longer at the campsite returned to the Barbier to sample more of Martijn's dishes and when one group placed a reservation for a table as they intend to return whilst on holiday in 2017!

Situé dans une petite rue du centre d'un tout petit village, ce café sert de la petite restauration. Ce n'est pas de la grande cuisine mais c'est simple et assez bon. Terrasse extérieure donnant sur une rue où ne passe quasiment aucune voiture. La vue n'est pas terrible mais le patron est tellement jovial - ainsi que son épouse - qu'on s'y sent bien et qu'au final on y a passé du bon temps. Snacks chauds et froids, quelques plats. Membre d cela chaine des fietscafé qui accueille avec plaisir les cyclistes.

Uitmuntende ontvangst met ruime uitleg lekkere koffie en appeltaart erbij, na een wandeling in de omgeving met mooie zichten en plaatsen, wat een mooi eiland !lunch bestaande uit een lekkere dagverse soep met ballekes en dan gebakken mosselen met groenten en fritjes, apart potje mayonaise en saus bij de mosseltjes. wandel en of fietskaart erbij gekregen gratis. echt leuk en alles voor de prijs van 13.50 Dat is zeer goedkoop en een aanrader, de bowling hebben we niet geprobeerd maar is tevens een aanrader en met kleine prijsjes mede daar de uitbating mede verzorgd word door licht gehandicapte mensen( beschutte werkplaats)met begeleiding uiteraard
