Reviews on Filipino food in Candelaria, Zambales Province, Philippines including Crispy Pata Sa Candelaria, Jollibee, Maia's Cakes, Chowking
There is nothing fancy about this restaurant. It's actually just a plain looking resto (more like a house) with four tables and a big flat screen TV. It is just the owner who prepares and serves the food with their only child helping once in a while. What makes this restaurant stand out is their food, especially their crispy pata (P420). I am not exaggerating when I say that theirs is the best crispy pata I've tasted. I have traveled all over the country and have tried many different versions but their crispy pata is just superb! The skin is cooked to perfection - golden brown and crispy, while the meat is juicy, flaky, and packed with flavor. It is also big and can feed 4-5 persons. That is why whenever I pass by Candelaria, an order of their crispy pata whether for dine-in or take out is an absolute must. The last time I ordered crispy pata for take out, I called them as early as 630 in the morning coming from Sariaya. The owner was kind enough to accept my order and had it prepared fast.Aside from the crispy pata, make sure that you also try their sinigang na hipon, chopsuey and pancit canton. They are all perfect partners of the crispy pata. Serving of the sinigang is per person while the chopsuey and pancit canton are good for 3-4 persons. If you plan to eat here, call in advance since it takes 30 minutes or more for them to prepare the dishes. They only cook the food upon ordering. You may also want to bring home some crispy pata delight raw or cooked already. You may call them at (042) 585-7143 for reservation.
This is the fast food chain of the Philippines! Everyone loves Jollibee including my children!! They wanted to visit time and time again just like McDonalds in the US! They have burgers, noodles and rice meals available. Just as with any place there, it is normally clean with the exception of the bathrooms. And make sure you bring toilet paper not only to Jollibee but to any public place in the Philippines.....they don't supply it for you!! ;) Fail safe fast food place to grab a quick bite to eat in the Philippines.
