Find out what Cafe restaurants to try in Merida. The Yucatan capital has both colonial and Mayan treasures to discover. Nearby ruins at Uxmal give some insight into the lives of the predecessors of the conquistadores, who arrived in 1542. Mayan culture is also still evident in Merida's daily life and in the many colorful festivals celebrated here.

Decorated with fotos of one of the most famous icons of the Mexican revolutionary, Emilio Zapata, along with plenty of quotes about friendship and coffee, this tiny oasis at Merida's city centre offers more than only great vegetarian dishes and the best coffee in town. At least when I visited with my girlfriend, they advertised a workshop on sensuality with blindfold included. Although the place looks small it's full of great artistic and minimalist details. We tried Jalisco coffee and its amazing texture and flavor left us wondering what we were missing by not ordering more. Food also comes with wee details revealing a strange sense of both carefullness and aesthetics.

We stopped here for lunch because, walking by, it just looked so inviting. an interesting collection of tables and chairs were shaded under two massive trees and the whole picture had a European flair. live music started shortly after we arrived and that competed the image. the food? it was really good! different, interesting, healthy... a very pleasant experience. we went back the next day for brunch and.. it as just as good! only with different music.... wonderful

The antipasto we had was pretty good, but the pasta dish with pork and beef was mediocre. The pasta may be made there, but seemed to us just ok.

We lived only a block further, and we ate breakfast at Cafeteria Pop every morning of our stay in Merida! Good coffee, fresh juice, delicious hotcakes and a tasty fruit salad - and this all for 2 people for less than 200 pesos! Also a lot of locals, always a good sign :)

Merida's best kept secret. The quality of this place is outstanding! Even compared to actual comparisons in its original homeland (places like Angelina, mori yoshida in Paris). The owners are very friendly and helpful, while chatting with them I even found out that they import some of their ingredients, that's how far they go to uphold the quality. Would highly recommend.

We first toured the restaurant's culinary museum. What a treasure and just a short distance from Centro and the Paseo de Montejo. The restaurant's courtyard is a place of peace and calm. The food options are many and inexpensive. The staff are friendly and helpful especially when translating the menu. We would highly recommend the Creme Brûlée! We will return.

As always, the courtyard is a delightful and relaxed area to sit and enjoy a snack, or cake and coffee with friends. The service is good, the various platters of meats and cheeses much better than in many other places, all at a reasonable price.

We are a concept of comfort food, where we serve breakfast & brunch with the worry of preserving the traditional flavors, using products of season and adapting them to the gastronomic trends of nowadays.
Four of us walked over for breakfast from our Airbnb. We had a great, fresh, and creative breakfast. I had a freshly made horchata which was excellent. Each of us had something different and we were all very satisfied. We were greeted by a friendly waiter who took excellent care of us even though the place gets quite busy. Go before 10:30AM or it might be full. This is not a fast food joint. The food is all made fresh and made to order so it takes a while. Be patient and you will be rewarded. I use Tripadvisor a lot and read through all the reviews, even the negative ones to get a sense of a place. There were only 4 one and two star ratings. When I read them, I knew they were either competitors or just people that can't be pleased under any circumstances. The place is a small neighborhood restaurant serving well-prepared, fresh food. It gets busy. When it gets busy, service slows down like it does in every other restaurant. Their hours are available on Tripadvisor. Don't expect them to be open before or after hours. And in Mexico, if you want water you are better off buying a bottle con gas or sin gas. It will be cool, refreshing, inexpensive, and it is available everywhere.
