Service with a smile by Daniella. Great food reasonably priced. Nice little dinner with tables overlooking the Erie Canal. We had Tuesday's special----liver and onions, with mashed potatoes, and fresh steamed spinach and garlic toast----which was a very delicious lunch indeed. The large serving of liver was pink and tender, the mashed potatoes were authentic, and the spinach delicate and bright green. We had no room for dessert, which was a shame. Next time!

Apple Granny

Reviewed By dopey1200 - Cincinnati, Ohio

We went to the town of Lewiston on a recommendation from a tour guide at Niagara Falls State Park. While in town, we googled restaurants to see what was around. Apple Granny came up & was listed as having good homemade pies, so we decided that was the place for us! Our meals were very good & they have a huge menu with everything from filet mignon to sandwiches. Service was very good & the place has neat decor with a few really cool antique pieces. There is also a full service bar & my dad was quite happy with his generous serving of Tanqueray. Then, it was time for dessert. We asked the waitress what kind of pies they had and she rattled off a list of about 20, including a few cakes as well. I had the banana cream pie & it was full of real banana slices (not just pudding like most). My brother had the cheesecake & it was the best cheesecake I've ever tasted (maybe because it was New York style & we were in New York?). All in all it was a great place for dinner & we'd go back if in town again.

This place is NOT fancy but rather down home in a tavern-like way. It is comfortable and the food is fantastic. After much debate, I had the loaded hash. My friend had a breakfast with grits on the side. We were both thrilled with our breakfasts and took take-out boxes home. Service is friendly and efficient. While I only had breakfast here, I heard that other meals are equally as good. Enjoy!

Silo Restaurant

Reviewed By SharkByte_Rob - North Tonawanda, New York

We usually go to the Silo for the red caboose, which is where they serve ice cream. During a lot of warmer summer evenings, the lines will be quite long. Although it's just "Perry's Ice Cream", it's the sundaes that make them normally stand out.

They change up their "special" listing every few weeks, depending on the holiday or the time of the year. We went in mid-September, so there were some "back to school" type sundaes. Because of the time of the year, something felt off about here.

Normally, I would rate this 4-stars, but I'm rating them on my experience this time. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a disappointing experience. First was their staffing. They were really disorganized and taking extremely long to service people. One couple didn't order it, but got four sundaes when they ordered just two (although they took both). They seemed confused and unsure sometimes. They were out of any peanut butter ice cream, so any sundaes that contained PB, had to substitute something else. At least they had peanut butter sauce.

At the end, my sundae came out fine, although my wife had to keep changing it up due to not having any of the still-advertised peanut butter ice cream flavors (they could have crossed them off the list on the outside), but her sundae came out ok.

The last complaint is that they stated they were open until 9pm, and at 7:50pm, they shut most their lights off on the outside & inside, almost seemingly like they were trying to shoo away potential customers. At least there are a few better ice cream places up the street a little.

The prices were very fair. It was 50 cent wing day, so we shared some and the flavors were nice. My Moscow mule was made very well. My husband ordered a Guinness and a great lakes Porter, both on draft. The place is very clean, classy, and sleek. The variety of liquor was top shelf, the beer craft and some local, and the wine choices looked nice. I definitely recommend stopping here for any occasion.
