Yichang (Chinese: 宜昌; old postal name 'Ichang') is a prefecture-level city located in western Hubei province, China. It is the second largest city in the province after the capital, Wuhan. The Three Gorges Dam is located within its administrative area, in Yiling District. At the 2010 census, its population was 4,059,686 inhabitants whom 1,350,150 lived in the built-up (or metro) area made of Yiling, Xiling, Wujiagang and Dianjun urban districts as Xiaoting District are not yet urbanized.

Very good restaurant for business and also family. Have classic Sichuan and Hunan food. I prefer Fish head with green and red peppers.

This restaurant is not called the Weng Restaurant but rather the Fang Weng Restaurant if you were to search it out in Chinese (放翁). The food quite honestly at this restaurant was so-so but you are there for the ambience. My tip is to go to this place just before sunset so about 5pm should do it if you are not in daylight saving hours where you get a majestic view of how this literal hole of a restaurant was built into the cave wall. There are apparently only 9 such 'hanging' cave restaurants in the world and this is one of two in China so if you have come all the way to Hubei, Sanxi or The Three Gorges Dam in Yichang - it would not be wise to give this a miss.
The sturgeon fish is their specialty but sturgeon meat is tough and gamey so forget it - go for the fish soup dish that they recommend in the first few pages of the menu (I can't recall the name of the fish that they use but it was good - boneless and meaty).
We had the bread that was served with honey and this makes a nice carb dish if you are not having any noodles or rice. The other dishes were not outstanding.
Go there simply for the outstanding view and some simple eats (idea order dishes that you are familiar with) and your expectations would have been met.
Ps there is no website etc but if you google Hanging Cave restaurants or Sanyou Cave Restaurant - you should be able to get an address to the venue and some other reviews. Hope this helps.

不是很喜欢日本菜。真的,太清淡。不过呢,日本菜非常精致。各种花样…………很会享受的感觉哈。鱼生我个人不太吃的习惯。朋友说非常好。不过没吃过的东西,体验一下,非常不错

My Chinese host and I only stopped here to have a drink (ironically, he had cofee while I had tea). It was a very pleasant and relaxed hour and I would go back if I ever get to Yichang again.

German owned international Bistro in Yichang. Peters Bistro has a diverse menu of western dishes ranging from Italian Pizza, Spagetthi with Bolognese Sauce to different Burger from selfmade buns, German Schnitzel, German Sausages, coffee and Double chocolate Brownies with vanilla icecream. The Bistro features a homely clean modern decor and a cozy european atmosphere.
For expats and tourists visiting Yichang in particular it is great to on occasion have a little taste of something other than the local cuisine. Peter's Bistro comes from the couple behind previous Walking Street expat favourite Pizza Romantico. Peter, a German expat and his Chinese wife have recently opened Peter's Bistro just a few blocks from tourist hotspot Wanda Plaza. The new location is rather quaint and the food is delicious with a wide selection of interesting pizzas on the menu along with other European flair such as German Schnitzel, a variety of sausage platters and of course Peter's Burger. Lastly the prices are very reasonable for Western fare in China. Certainly a place worth visiting when you're in need of a little taste of home.
