We were recommend this place for authentic izakaya food by our taxi driver. It's a family run place serving seafood, BBQ chicken and pork and sashimi. You can chose what you want from an English menu on an iPad and the food to be barbequed from their extensive cabinet - we had the chicken and pork skewers they were fantastic. The fried chicken was tender and delicious. The local whitebait was also good. Food was really tasty and the owners were friendly. They also have a good selection of sake to try, including sake from the Mt Fuji area. Seemed to be where locals eat.
really great food, variety of cuisines - all prepared with care. Terrific staff and a great story around the foundation of the business linked with the local area and the staff.
Came on a cold Oct day when in Japan for Rugby World Cup and picked this little place from Trip Adviser. Really nice warm traditional interior and pictures of Mt Fuji - which we did not see. No English menu but the owner has enough English to help. Great noodles (Soba and Hoto vegetable Hotpot)

We saw this place in the visitor map and was pleasantly surprised! A little tough to find but Google Map will get you there! The udon is great! Would suggest:- cold udon with meat- side of tempura veggie- side of the famous fish cake tempura! We traveling with 2 kids and this place is great - good space in tatami style seats. They also have children's books (in Japanese) for kids to pass the time. Also have magazines and books all around for big people too!Price.... well - many reviews say it's expensive but generally feel this is ok-priced (~Â¥600-700 for a bowl of Udon and ~Â¥100 for sides). Overall super yummy and I think a nice stop in the area!!

On the shore of the lake this is a cozy little local style restaurant. We visited in winter so we were only joined by a couple of tables of locals drinking Sochu and chatting. We ate there a couple of times including by birthday dinner and were totally impressed by the freshness of their Sashimi the friendliness of the owner and the quaint atmosphere. We also had the freshest oysters I have ever had the pleasure of eating. The place is very unassuming, it has a simple hand written menu but is a comforting place to spend an evening. The prices are very reasonable and everything we had was delicious with generous portions, with some sake and full tummies you will spend no more that 6000 yen per couple.

Lake Yamanaka near Fuji has a number of large restaurants on the North-Western lake side. We visited Lake Yamanaka HÅtÅ Restaurant twice during our stay at local Zero Project Guesthouse. The food was absolutely amazing on both occasions. We highly recommend a visit (or two!) to this restaurants r excellent Japanese cuisine served in a warm, cosy and friendly environment. Our first visit was during a busy lunch time service on Sunday afternoon -

Had kinoko houtou. Served in a large steel bowl with large servings of noodles (oh how thick and hearty they are!) and 6 or 7 vegetables.Very good flavor. Stable quality and service just as I expected from visiting Kosaku restaurant at Kofu train station.Excellent location in Yamanakako lakeshore area.Traditional Japanese style interior decor settings where the customers sit on tatami floor with zabuton, though there are some western style table/seats, too. The only wish to this restaurant is the pricing and the serving size. If they could provide smaller servings at lower price, that could attract more wide range of customers, as their bowls are all large and relatively expensive for noodles.
