I read the reviews for this place and was intrigued, especially since Viroqua doesn't have a lot of eateries. The drive is a little out of the way(we GPS'd it with no problem.) The view is great from the deck, the inside isn't anything to scream about, but the atmosphere has a very nice "local" spirit to it - lots of regulars and their families. The bartender was friendly and allowed us to eat out on the deck - even though it was a little of out season. Warning - bring cash(we were lucky to have some on us.) There is an ATM there, but if you want to avoid fees. The prices are decent(we went with the fish - it being a Fish Fry Friday.) The walk up to the restaurant is a little steep(for anyone with mobility issues.) It's paved or wooden planked, but a little steep here and there - and the parking lot is not paved at all. Unfortunately they didn't have the greatest Scotch, but my wife loved her drink. We had a great time - wonderful experience and a truly a well hidden Gem.

While staying at the nearby Westby B&B we decided to have dinner hear. The place was packed on a Friday night at 7:15pm. As we did not dot have a reservation we waited in the attached bar and watched some college football to pass the time. This an old time supper club minus the relish tray. It was darker with a majority older crowd. There were many, many locals dining which I usually take as a good sign of the quality.I went with the special: an 8 oz sirloin cut in house and my wife went with the pork chop. They have a small salad bar that from a distance looked okay, but up close was actually quite nice. One choice of lettuce but there were many toppings as well as pasta salad, potato salad, sauerkraut etc. The only thing missing that the menu claimed was a soup on the bar. When we came back to the table there was fresh bread waiting for us.The dinners came cooked to order and both the pork and beef were of very good quality. We were too stuffed to try dessert but I saw several people order them and the pies looked great. If I'm in the area I would definitely eat here again.
