My ribs were great-- cooked well with tasty sauce. However, my baked potato had a bad spot that was at least a quarter of it's entire volume. My wife faired worse-- she wanted the pan fried walleye, and after a lengthy pause, the waitress came back and said they were out, so she got the perch at a 10% discount and asked for it to be pan fried as well. It came back with some sort of uncooked flour coating-- my wife asked several times and the waitress insisted it was just salt and pepper. My wife even brushed some of the flour away, and the uncooked consistency made it totally unappealing, and she didn't eat it. Her mash was inedible as well- a huge tasteless blob of stuff that same off her plate with a single lift of the fork. Luckily the cheese soup and salad bar gave her something to eat. Breakfast the next morning was another spilt decision-- loved my corn beef hash with poached egg but my wife again got the wrong pancake. Lovely hotel, great stay, but a little concentration would have helped here.Dave,We are very sorry to hear that your experience with some of the food was unsatisfactory. We unfortunately ran out of walleye that particular evening. Please know that we have looked into why this happened and will try to make sure this does not happen again. We hope that you will dine with us again and will give us the opportunity to perfect your dining experience. Thank you again for taking the time to give a review so that we can always strive for perfection.Thank you,Hotel Mead Staff and Management

Marjorieâs Steakhouse is a âhidden gemâ conveniently nestled between Plover and WI Rapids. In addition to their signature steaks, they offer prime pork, specialty salads and pasta dishes, seafood including salmon, scallops and shrimp along with the popula
I was visiting my parents in Wisconsin Rapids last week and made an advance reservation for dinner at Marjorie's on Thursday (12/18/17) to celebrate my mother's 85th birthday. I had never been there myself, but it came pretty well recommended. A week prior, I called and spoke with Bob who is the co-owner (his wife is Marjorie). Bob couldn't have been more pleasant. I told him that I recognized that the restaurant was primarily known as a steak house (Wisconsin Supper Club environment) that had weekly fish fries on Friday, as is local tradition. But, coming from Palm Springs, CA -- where few fresh swim ;-) I wondered if it would be possible to order fresh, fried perch on a Thursday evening. Bob said he would do what he could. Long story, short, we showed up shortly after the restaurant opened at 5P and were immediately greeted by Bob -- who already knew who I was -- or had a pretty good idea -- and greeted me by name. Shortly thereafter, Marjorie also came out and introduced herself. We had a lovely talk -- they are the nicest people in the world! (And I might add, recently retire, successful local corporate execs who found a second life/career.) Best yet, they were expecting me and had the perch ready to go. I actually ordered a Midwest version of surf & turf (perch and a filet)... my mother also ordered the perch... and dad had a steak, as well. I've got to say -- having enjoyed many. many fried fish nights at WI supper clubs -- THIS WAS ABSOLUTELY THE BEST EVER!! I'm still dreaming about it 5 days later. Perfect, ultra light and crispy batter and very high quality fish. I asked for my filet to be done medium rare (on the rare side) and again -- PERFECT. My parents were equally pleased. The apples don't fall far from the tree from a service standpoint. The wait staff was awesome and couldn't have been nicer. Bob and Marjorie visited our table at east 4 times to make sure that everything was satisfactory and just to be friendly in a totally unobtrusive way. I've traveled all round the world and have eaten at some of the most highly regarded restaurants from New York to Paris to Delhi to Hong Kong and know that I have not had as wonderful an evening as I did last week at Marjorie's. If you're ever in Central Wisconsin PLEASE PLEASE stop by -- even for just a classic Wisconsin Old Fashion at the bar. This place and these people will win your heart -- They won mine! Kudos kudos kudos!! And, I don't say that often. I promise to visit many times in the future when I return to the area. Just loved this place and I'm SURE you will too! Hugs to Marjorie and Bob from me and my parents! You gave us some really wonderful memories... and fantastic dining, of course! Best of luck in the future -- You guys TOTALLY ROCK!
