As a connoisseur of fine, European beers and a lover of authentic German ambiance, The Von Rothenberger bier stube is one of my favorite destinations. This cozy pub offers an excellent selection of imported beers, and first rate food served up by Jerryâs, a popular, adjoining restaurant. Cozy, but not cramped, youâll feel at ease among the ornately carved woodwork, stained glass and German decor. In the warmer months, the Von Rothenberger also hosts a festive, outdoor Biergarten where you can sit on picking tables and savor the brew along with the balmy summer breezes.Moderate pricing ... friendly service... I canât think of a reason not to make this your next stop for a Friday fish fry!

We arrived early for our 5:30 reservation and sat at the bar. The bartenders were extremely friendly and attentive and made wonderful Moscow Mules and Old Fashioneds. We were seated before our reservation time, but even though there was a nice booth and a table for two along another wall, we were seated next to the busing table which lines two thirds of the wall. I decided to make the best of it and sit with my back to the busing area staring at the fire place. I ignored the noise from the busing and ordered duck and my husband ordered a German dish. The food came quickly and was incredibly good. It was probably the best duck I have ever had. The portion was so large that I took half of it home. Unfortunately though, through the whole dinner either the wait staff or the customers kept running into my chair. I started counting after awhile and ten times someone knocked into my chair. I am not a big person and my chair was pulled in. I do not understand why when we had made a reservation several days before, were dressed up and came early, we were given the worst table in the room, especially when there were two other great options available. The table by the wall had no one sitting there until we left. I told the waitress and she said we should have requested another table. Of course as she returned our charge card, someone knocked into the back of my chair for the eleventh time. A five plus rating evening was ruined by a terrible table.

Although it has been renamed, it is not connected to it's old owner, Jerry. We stopped in about 2 weeks ago with another couple after they reopened the Old Town Beer Hall. The interior had been freshened up and looked good. Giving them the benefit of doubt on a "reset and reopening" we found the service to be adequate and the menu is similar to previous incarnations of "Jerry's / Old Town".We enjoyed the evening but the food was not the same as in past years. I felt it was more towards the quality of their food suppliers than in the preparation. Will give it another try in a few more weeks.
