The Braising Pan

Reviewed By Smartiecook

The staff was very attentive and friendly. The dill baked cod was delicious. The german potato salad was excellent. Not too vinegry as some are the sauce nicely carmelized. Nice pieces of bacon browned just right the potatoes cooked just right not to firm or too soft. The red cabbage was cooked very nice as eell. Not too soft or too hard but am dente. The fish was covered with lemon sliced with fresh sprigs of dill. There was ample butter for dipping the fish into. The clam chowder was obviously home made. A deep cream color not all white and pale. I could taste the bacon in it. All true quality clam chowder should have bacon or salt pork in it. There was ample clams and the potatoes were cooked just right. The fish fry my husband had was very good as well 4 pieces of fish thinly battered. With a bake potato. The come slaw was tasty. The rye bread and dinner rolls were warm and fresh. The rye was a nice german marble rye. The fish was flaky and flavorful. The waitress liked my tattoos. I was a little self conscious because I had a lip lift a day earlier and I looked like I had a bloody nose. She said well next time I want to see your smile. They were busy but moved people through quite promptly. We will be back again. I had been there several years earlier and the German nachos were excellent. I had also tried the Sauer Braten. Being of German heritage to eat food my mother used to cook was a real treat. I look forward to trying the schnitzel.Thank you Smartiecook for your excellent review. How incredibly flattering of you to make positive note of our relaxed environment, delicious food, and amazing staff. We strive to keep great customers like you coming back again. Thanks for your recommendation, Smartiecook!!

Von Rothenburg Bier Stube

Reviewed By Barefoot_Gourmet

As a connoisseur of fine, European beers and a lover of authentic German ambiance, The Von Rothenberger bier stube is one of my favorite destinations. This cozy pub offers an excellent selection of imported beers, and first rate food served up by Jerry’s, a popular, adjoining restaurant. Cozy, but not cramped, you’ll feel at ease among the ornately carved woodwork, stained glass and German decor. In the warmer months, the Von Rothenberger also hosts a festive, outdoor Biergarten where you can sit on picking tables and savor the brew along with the balmy summer breezes.Moderate pricing ... friendly service... I can’t think of a reason not to make this your next stop for a Friday fish fry!

Jerry's Old Town Inn

Reviewed By OhThatDave

Although it has been renamed, it is not connected to it's old owner, Jerry. We stopped in about 2 weeks ago with another couple after they reopened the Old Town Beer Hall. The interior had been freshened up and looked good. Giving them the benefit of doubt on a "reset and reopening" we found the service to be adequate and the menu is similar to previous incarnations of "Jerry's / Old Town".We enjoyed the evening but the food was not the same as in past years. I felt it was more towards the quality of their food suppliers than in the preparation. Will give it another try in a few more weeks.
