Things to do in Chetek
Located right on the lake with docks for those in boats, we always stop by at least once when we're in Chetek. She really makes a great Sloppy Joe sandwich.
Six of us stopped in on a Friday night for dinner. A young couple is taken over, with her as the hostess/waitress and her husband as the chef. Food was hot and fresh. Well worth the short drive from Chetek to Potato Lake. We'll be back.

Welcome to Pokegama Lakeside! Under New Ownership since May of 2018! Enjoy dinner under the pines on the picturesque deck fronting the lake shore or experience the âGreat North Woodsâ decor of the spacious dining room. Meet your friends for a drink and so
We had the cheese curds and fried pickles which were both good. The service here is terrible, and has been for a few years. We always try to give them a chance each year when we come back for the summer. Hopefully when we go next time their customer service has improved!

We have been coming to Chetek for several years and this used to be one of our favorite places to stop. Not anymore. They never have enough help for the size of crowd they get. One bartender and one waitress outside during the height of summer is not enough. By now you should know when your "busy times" are and staff accordingly! We have found service is better (even when busy) elsewhere. Thanks for sharing your review, Ruth. Input from our guests helps us continually work on the over experience of Gilligans. We try our best to manage staffing to meet demand but unfortunately do miss the mark sometimes, and we're sorry for that. Every summer, we staff up by the dozens, review past trends and give our best guess to try to get it right day in and day out.

Known for their chicken, but we would recommend you try the fish fry on Friday nights. You can order 2 or 3 pieces with 2 sides. Also try a Bloody Mary with the works.

Apparently Redâs was the place to be on this Saturday! There was some Hydroflight (the local water ski show) Party going on with drink specials. The inside was crowded and the outside patio/deck was too! There was a guy singing outside on the patio and there was not a place to sit out there. He sounded very good. I donât remember ever knowing of them having bands or singers, so thatâs a great addition! The outside yard had some people playing bean bags. We had a beer and moved on because we assumed it would be a long wait for food since it was so crowded. They have good pizza, so we look forward to coming back to eat yet this summer!

The breadsticks are without question the best in the world! The pizza is really good with tons of cheese. The taco salad is one of my favorites as well! My family eats here or gets delivery multiple times a summer. For some reason this year we have gotten our side salads at the same time as the pizza, which is disappointing. Not sure if it changed hands or not, but this summer the service has been spotty. Still good food though!

Had breakfast here after reading all the good reviews. Mary's Special with one egg was delicious with the salsa and sour cream. The hash browns were crispy on the outside and perfectly moist and tender on the inside. The cafe was very busy; still we had excellent service. Definitely recommend stopping here!

First time back for the summer season on Friday night, and as usual the pizza and service was great! They really know how to do it here! They have a new menu this year, with the regular things they used to carry, plus a lot of new items, and I have included photos of it. We tried the new pickle fries were were little pickles (French Fry size), battered and then deep fried. They were very tasty. We had a large Chicken Buffalo pizza and a medium Blazinâ Siracha pizza, that had sausage, pepperoni, jalapeños, banana peppers, and siracha sauce. Itâs one of our favorites! We had Madisyn as our waitress, and she was very on top of things, friendly, and a good waitress all around. Scott (owner) hires great staff here! They have a rewards program where they punch your card for each pizza purchased, and when itâs full you get a free pizza. They also have a special pizza they feature each month with unique toppings. We eat here every time we come to Chetek which is most weekends spring- fall, so we buy A LOT of pizzas here. This is a must if you want great food and service! FYI- During busy times, and they do get busy- you will have to wait a long time for your pizza, so knowing that ahead of time is key, or go early or late. It doesnât bother us- we get an app, some beers and talk. :)

I know some people really, really love the food here. I find it a bit heavy and heavily flavored. The pancakes on the buffet are rubbery. Itâs been at least three years since we have been here, and I am guessing it will be at least another three til we come back! My husband and I did the buffet, and we were not impressed at all. There is definitely a wide variety of offerings, but if you have taste buds, you wonât find anything (other than the bacon! That was really good!) very tasty.
