Had some good meals there, but my last 2 visits have left me a tad disappointed. Its not awful by any means but I haven't left with a good enjoyable feeling either. Poor understanding and choice of gluten free dishes is an understatement.

I have eaten several times at the Black Bear, and the food really is lovely. Service is also very good. I would advise booking as you may not get a table as walk-in. Would definitely recommend.

cruising the canals of Shropshire, one gets the odd urge to "pub" it....and so we ended up at the Old Town Vaults in Whitchurch.....very cosy, great variety on the menu and superb service by seasoned vets in the Pub trade....that plus a mid range pricing and excellent food was all we needed to go back on several occasions. You will find this property on a small side street that also houses the Museum and heritage centre, so its a great place to eat and then explore. Highly recommended...

We are a family run country pub that welcomes Children, dogs & mudddy boot's. We concentrate on producing quality, home cooked fresh pub food made from local produce at competitive prices. We have 8 ever changing real ales, along with quality wines and refreshments for all your requirements.
Decided to treat the children after a morning of muddy sport. The sausages they chose - were of a very poor quality. The side vegetables of carrot sticks were raw and looked like they had been fished from the bottom of the fridge and the chips tasted fatty/ old chip pan taste. I choose a mushroom risotto- which was a concoction of flavours. I can cook and to me it seemed an experimental attempt at a meal- the sauce was not at all pleasant and had handfuls of full almonds thrown over the top. It was very amateur. It was boiled white rice and nothing risotto about it. Rice with a topping of chopped mushroom in ketchuppy based sauce. Not nice. Children enjoyed the ice cream at the end only. It wasn’t a cheap meal and we were so disappointed. The layout and feel of the place is great but food is not good at all. Real shame.

Maybe the oldest pub in Whitchurch, dating back to circa 1650 being a coaching inn in those days . We have a lovely front courtyard with cover , and a large beer garden to the rear of the pub . We serve food 7 days a week,Monday and Tuesday (lunch only) 11.00-14.30 , Wednesday & Thursday (Lunch 11.00 -14.30 and then evening 1730-2030 )and Friday/Saturday/Sunday we serve food all day (11-2030 Fri & Sat - 12.00 -1800 on a Sunday ) .
If you want a friendly local along with pop into the White Bear, Whitchurch, just had a family birthday meal, staff worked hard to make it a good night. Reasonably priced varied menu with specials. Give it a try.

Went with a friend for a Sunday walk around the lake, then coffee in the cafe. Lovely log fire burning, and quite busy for the time of year. I had a great sausage (local) butty! Will definitely visit again. Highly recommended.

Vegan And Gluten Free Meals Available
I live in north Wales and only stopped as I’d been delayed due to traffic.
Used tripadvisor to find a decent Indian nearby and this place had good reviews.
I can see why people like it here, the food is really good, traditional British Indian however much better standard than most places. Food really tasty and the staff provide a good service- what more do you want?
I had the popadoms, chutneys which were average to be fair however the mixed starter, chicken tikka jalfrezi, mushroom pilaf, aubergine bhaji and chapati all really good.
Hopefully I hit traffic again!

Called in on Sunday afternoon for a quick drink, looked really nice from the outside and inside was nice too, nice decor, lots of Seating area with a large screen tv in the centre. Nice atmosphere, quite busy. Not much in the way of cask ales, but found one the boyfriend liked. Stayed for about 40 minutes. Nice.
