We've just got back from celebrating my husbands 80th birthday at The Stables along with all our family, ranging from two months to eighty! We had an evening meal, overnight stay and breakfast for eighteen of us. My husband and I had been there several times and decided that it was special enough for his birthday and we were confident that the family would be happy there! We were not wrong !! From us all arriving at different times yesterday we were all made so welcome. The staff were amazing. So friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Our rooms were just beautiful, especially The Lodge, with the sauna and hot tub. The whole ambience of the restaurant was perfect, and the outside with the views, and the pond, was lovely for photographs. Our meal last night could not be faulted, we all had something different and we were all delighted with the delicious food. As we all were with the breakfast this morning. We had a room to ourselves for our evening meal, and I was amazed at the service when the restaurant was full and there was another large party in. I cannot fault The Stables in any way and will be visiting there again on our next trip to Whitby. Thank you all for making my husband's birthday so special, I couldn't have asked for any more!

Stopped here part way through our walk to Falling Foss. A great location above the waterfall and pleasant service. Received a huge dish of nachos that were tasty and covered with cheese.Just what was needed.Would certainly recommend to others when walking in the area.

Arrived on Thursday 31st October and went early evening. 4 of us had fish and chips with mushy food peas, buttered bun and white bread!! The food was fantastic, so good in fact we decided that we had to go back on the next night. Whether we our expectations were to high but Friday 1st November just wasnât as good. The fish was superb still, it was the chips... they were dry and overcooked. As we were queuing up to get a seat I had noticed they had a load of chips cooked in one of the back warm up cupboards. And it really showed in the chips. All 4 of us felt slightly disappointed after how excellent it was the night before

This place is well worth the journey. It's on a side street close to the harbour. The fish and chips are fantastic and I can recommend the fish pieces and the fish cakes. Very reasonable prices and great staff make this fantastic.

Visited once again, our favourite restaurant, welcomed by Jude and Pauline who were very very pleasant.A wonderful meal once again. Starters of duck then venison which was cooked to perfection.Vegetables very nice too.Always need to book well in advance they had to turn people away as they were fully booked on a Wednesday night.Phone kept ringing for the weekend but no tables available, always a good sign.Have been visiting this restaurant for five years now and we always love to visit.Would highly recommend

Staying at a cottage in Sleights it was inevitable that we would try this due to the excellent write ups. Arrived at about 7pm on a Saturday night and as expected, quite busy. However, service was friendly and quite quick. There is parking available both inside and on the road outside. The restaurant is licensed for those wanting to eat and I can confirm that the fish and chips were excellent. Not greasy like some and definitely worth a visit.

Charming, recently refurbished village pub on the fringe of the Yorkshire Dales, just 3 miles from Whitby. Extremely dog friendly with 3 en-suite letting rooms. Great new menu using locally sourced ingredients cooked to order. Real open fire to cosy up in
Went and has a nice lunch in the rear beer garden and enjoyed it. It was friendly and welcoming with good service. So we booked in for dinner later that evening. It was dog friendly in the bar area. The menu was adequate and we had a nice meal. All the staff were pleasant.
