This is a great suburban bistro/bottle-shop. The restaurant space is lovely and the menu has a good hearty selection. The chefs do a very good job on the entrees and main. The Prosciutto/roasted fig/tomato/burrata is fantastic. The main was a dry-aged duck breast, but it came in a sort of pasty - which took my by surprise...but...it was truly delicious and I could have happily eaten another one! The wine list is extensive and seems to be priced at 'bottle-shop" prices which is a nice change. The only issue we found was with dessert. We went for the crepe suzette but this interpretation is not as good as the original/expected version. The crepes were cold and had dollops of flavoured cream inside them. It still tasted ok, just not what they were made out to be. Service was good. Would go again, but ask more questions as I was ordering.

The Carlton Wine Room is a comfortable neighbourhood space with a strong wine focus, and a menu to match, finding a home in a 19th century building on the corner of Drummond and Faraday Street in the heart of Carlton

Thornbury you are so luck to have Trumpy Bar on your door step. You enter through what looks like a workshop door into a very cool and comfortable space that houses a very engaging bar. You can sit at the bar or at a table, congregate around the cosy wood fire or on a warm evening the out door courtyard area would be excellent. The bar staff know there stuff and are warm and welcoming and full of great suggestions for cocktails and food. The food was delicious with plenty of gluten free options for me. You can nibble on olives or snack on small plates or if you after a full on meal they have that covered as well. The cocktail list has a book of its own and there are wines from near and far to suit all tastes and wallets.Try Trumpy Bar + Kitchen you wont be sorry.
