A place where cocktails and tapas are mixed with unique theatrical environments in Rancagua.
On our way to the Colchagua wine valley we decided to stop at this tapas bar. We knew we were taking a risk given its website is basically nothing more than a referral to their FB page and their FB page had just been recently established. It turns out they had only been open for a month when we visited. This location is certainly for the somewhat adventurous traveler who likes to see the younger, less-planed, up-and-coming side of the places they visit. For one, it is located in a heavily transited main street, in a more industrial part of town, with few restaurants/bars near it. (This means you will almost certainly have to drive around the block and use one of the two nearby parking lots to park and then walk to the restaurant.) Once you enter the restaurant you will forget where it is located as the inside has been turned into an eclectic wonderland of art work and decorations. This restaurant was clearly decorated by a younger, vibrant, forward-thinking person involved in some artistic field and not by a bunch of business people trying to design and theme restaurant. The service was good, and I say that more because of how hard they tried to please us than for any other reason. For example, although the waiter did not know what were some of the ingredients in some of the dishes, he immediately offered to ask, and did end up asking, the chef. In addition, the mother and father of the owner came to talk to us about their son's venture opening this restaurant. They were all lovely people and their stories enriched our experience. The food was better than what we expected given that this place is essentially a bar with a restaurant, not a restaurant with a bar. (For example, they close at 3:00 on weekends.) I was very happy to have something other than the typical Chilean meat dishes one would normally find at other area restaurants. They are still refining their menu, but I would hope they would add a larger variety of unusual empanadas or tapas. Still, the many options they had were just what we were looking.Where this place really shines is in their mixed drinks. They made a fantastic passion fruit (maracuyá in Spanish) martini and had a multiple of piscos to select from. Both of our drinks had strong fruit flavor, were made with the actual fruit (not just flavoring) and were strong enough to be enjoyed not just their fruit. This place would probably be very well-received in one of Santiago's many bar areas, especially one that caters to college students studying humanities, art, or something similar. We feel very fortunate that we found such a place in Rancagua and wish them great success.
