We have been to so many wine tastings in Mendoza and Italy and appreciate learning about the individual wines. The three of us had a tasting reservation with 5 different wines. The gentleman who presented the wines was very hurried and basically told us this wine was from their winery in Mendoza and this one was from Cayafate. Yes, we could taste the difference but it seemed to be a competition for Cayafate to be the winner. We were not told about the distinct qualities of each wine. We were done in a very short time in this whirlwind tasting. There were no others in the wine tasting room and we did have a reservation but it seemed like he truly didn't care.We learned that the owners, Jon and Arlene Malinski, are from Minnesota where we live. They bought the winery several years ago when it was in disrepair and built this very modern and beautiful winery. We were told that they are thinking/planning to build a hotel on property.We did buy a bottle of their Malbec. The region has the hot sun and the cold nights in one of the highest altitudes for wine making.

We visited the place twice, because we really liked it. Itâs kind of a tapas concept where you can share different plates if you want. The menu offers different food options than in other places, but still traditional, which is a good change. Service is very friendly. If you have the chance to visit in summer, you will enjoy a beautiful backyard area. We would definitely come back!

A cozy wine bar with a nice patio out front. Chato Cruz is very friendly, speaks good English and is knowledgeable about the local and regional wines. Ask him about his own wine available in limited quantities. The food is primarily platters of meats, cheeses, olives and the like - very good and reasonably priced.To find Chato's wine bar, face the church on the Plaza and go up the street to your right (San Martin) about 2 to 3 blocks and it is on the right side of the street. Find a favorite wine and buy a bottle or two to take home with you!
