Ate the cheeks of an unfortunate fish prepared piccata style with roasted veggies and fingerling potatoes. And loved every outstanding bite of it. Contributing equally to the wonderment of our evening was the service. We were treated like friends. I always appreciate the opportunity to meet the artist behind the food and was honored to do so at the end of our meal. Eagle didnât just rival fine dining in San Diego...they blew it away.

Meridian Food Guide: 10 Must-Eat Restaurants & Street Food Stalls in Meridian

The restaurant is located in the middle of the commons area of 'The Village in Meridian', a collection of shops and restaurants in an outdoor plaza type mall. I love the area and this restaurant has a patio along with tables with open area to look out onto the commons area to people watch. The concept involves having almost a hundred bottles of wine in dispensers encased in glass around the entire restaurant. You can purchase a magnetic card and put any dollar amount you would like on it which enables you to go to one of the dispensing station areas, select a wine for a 1 oz. pour, 30 oz. pour or a 5 oz. pour. Once you have your card, you are given a wine glass. You put your card into the slot, the station reads the amount you have on the card and you can select one of the wines available at that station. There is a fair amount of variety, especially reds. I did notice a lack of variety of Chardonnay. The system sounds simple but on two occasions, the bottle ran out of wine during my pour and I had to wait for someone to restock that varietal so I could fill my glass. The system will only charge you for what is poured so if you only get 1 oz. you only pay for 1 oz. on your card. They have a happy hour from 3-6 p.m. and you can go to one of the stations that has about eight wines that you can choose from. These are the only wines discounted for happy hour and the selection was not that great. It was $1 for a 1 oz. pour, $3 for a 3 oz. pour and $5 for a 5 oz. pour. At times there were lines to use the station and only one person can put there card in to choose from all of the wines. This slows things down quite a bit. Also, they tend to run out of the wines and have to restock in the middle of the dispenser pouring the wine which again causes a wait.As I said earlier, this is an innovative concept but it just does not seem to work for me. The other wines can cost well over $12 for a 5 oz. pour. Also, many restaurants in the area offer a 6 oz. pour for less cost for the same wines with personal service. They also have a limited menu for happy hour and it is very limited. I tried the flatbread and was not impressed. They have a small regular menu that has lots of small bites. The service seemed to be slow on both of my visits and on the first visit, the explanation of the concept came across as unclear. There are many other places to visit that I would recommend before coming back to this restaurant.
