Things to do in Fumane
This bar is just across the road from popular Osteria No1 and is a great place to stop for a drink. The wine is excellent and very good value. Apertivos good too. The owner is lovely and speaks English. We went a couple of times while in Fumane and felt very welcome.

Nestled in the midst of our vineyards, the Locanda del Bugiardo stands with our Dimora del Bugiardo 300 m distance as our principal hospitality offering. Excellence in cooking, with a tremendous attention to quality will, we promise, leave you breathless.
The restaurant is in the middle of the vineyards. We had dinner outside on the terrace at dusk. Peace, quiet, beauty, luxurious atmosphere. We chose the 'degustazione' menu, 4 courses matched with 5 wines of the Buglioni Bugiardo estates. Each dish was excellent, refined, nicely mixing traditional cuisine with modern creativeness. And the food-wine match really made each other shine.Service was perfectly refined but not intrusive, staff friendly and knowledgeable. Great way to sample the region's wines, including Ripasso and Amarone, and treat yourself to a refined and romantic evening.

We returned to Alla Pieve for the first time in 3 or 4 months and it was immediately clear that things had changed. Almost everything has changed in fact - the staff, chef, decor and the style and sadly the quality of the food. While the service was very polite and welcoming I'm afraid that's really where the positiives end.The chef is clearly very young and inexperienced as the menu is extremely basic and limited. Not necessarily a bad thing if the quality is good but it really was not - we both had a carpaccio which was too thickly sliced and was drowned in a balsamic reduction. Then we each toook carbonara (tagliatelle for me and bigoli for my wife). A hard dish to get wrong but mine was possibly the worst carbonara I've ever had and incredbly my wife's was significantly worse. Other points - we were always made to feel very welcome to bring our dog inside or out and now dogs are no longer allowed inside (to be fair the waiter was good to bring water for him). The wine selection is (as you'd expect in the heart of Valpolicella) great...yet when I asked for a Volpolicella Superiore I wasn't given any options and was simply presented with one that was far from the best...only when I went inside to pay did I discover what I could have had. The bathroom has been redone and looks fantastic now - except for the large hole in the wall that looks right into the bar. One more thing - the prices...I used to say I would happily pay double what I was charged here...not so now, the prices are a good 10% higher per course and the wine had a significant markup. I really do not enjoy leaving negative criticism but I felt my previous review is now no longer relevant as everything we loved about Alla Pieve has changed. I really hope the chef either changes or improves dramatically as paying more for a meal than we ever did here previously for something that is utterly incomparable as regards quality, presentation, style and imagination is not something we will do again.

How very pleasing to find such a quality restaurant close by to your holiday villa!! We went here to eat two nights in a row!!! Staff are highly professional, friendly and helpful in relation to regional wine. The restaurant is part of the Vigna 800 wine making enterprise and offer a lovely range of their own and other wines. Dishes are very fresh, cleverly crafted based in tradition, generous and very tasty. We thought it all very good value and were pleased with all aspects of food, wine and service. Thank you Diego and team.

We stayed in San Giorgio and this restaurant is just down the hill. We couldn't find a menu on line, so just went for it. It was different, no expected items, like pasta or rice. There were soups, salads, brushetta, sea food type things. While it was good, I think it could have been a bit larger selection. The person serving us was great (Sorry didn't catch his name), overall a good experience.

While driving from wineries to wineries in the amazing Amarone region, we came across this little place that our friend Michelangelo had suggested (if you want to eat well in Italy, ask the locals). The love birds at the entrance did announce us in and we were seated in no time by the always courteous service man. We found the place to be quite lovely and the fact of encountering local tenants did tell me that we were in the right place. We did order as usual the local fare and again was not disappointed to try incredible rich and delightful tasting new plates, especially those not found anywhere else. We decided to ask for their advise regarding the wine and sure enough, the bottle was emptied before departing the place. We were very satisfied with food, service and ambiance, so definitely would like to be back again.
