Study for a passionate approach to food and wine. These are the criteria that guided us in thinking a short chain, created with fresh ingredients, quality and respectful of seasonality; the same care that we had creating a wine list with a selection of pr
We stopped at the La Piazzetta wine bar and cafeteria on our visit to Orvieto. I had a margarita pizza which was excellent. The pizza was very large and I offered pieces to two other people. Our group of 22 ate on the terrace and lingered over desserts.

First and only BREWPUB in Orvieto, we also provide a FULL BAR and WINE LIST, with exceptional wines not just locals. We have an OPEN-PLAN KITCHEN on the first floor and a TINY TERRACE where you can enjoy our gourmet/traditional/streetfood/tapas menu. Not
This is more of a bar than a restaurant (although the do breakfasts). up a little side street, they give free nibbles whilst you drink at very reasonable wine prices ... I loved this place, and you could miss it .. so seek it out !

The barmen were really fun guys to hang out and drink with, they poured us some unexpectedly nice cocktails and shots.Later on the outside seating area filled up with locals and the atmosphere was pretty cool. This town is not really set up for tourists, so there aren't many places to go out and eat/drink at. This place is friendly and fun, we would definitely come back for drinks but probably not for the food which was so-so.

Enjoyed our panino with porchetta near the Duomo of Orvieto. Convenient location, nice sandwich. The children had fresh tagliatelle with ragú (otherwise known as bolognese) and it was a good size portion, not cheap for Italy but very tasty. They very kindly offered us almond biscuits and sweet wine at the end of the meal which was a nice treat.

The restaurant 'Vitalonga' is located in the boutique winery of Vitalonga. With stunning views of Orvieto and the surrounding landscape. Our Chefs serve traditional Umbrian dishes paired with the wines we produce. All pasta is home made and desserts are p
We celebrated a birthday on the estate, had a nice short tour and the meal and setting was very agreeable, we enjoyed that part of the visit. GOOD and recommendable.Because we liked the wine of Vitalonga which was served to the meal I purchased two boxes of 75cl bottles Phiculle and 3 Magnums. So far so good, we got the package on the estate and stored the wines in a quite cool place in our holiday home near Orvieto. Now comes the BAD: When opening the first bottle shortly after our home return (still good storage conditions on the transport and in the home wine cellar) I immediately was repelled by a strong smell of vegetables, no fruit and when tasted even with some feeling of a frizzante wine. So the first bottle was undrinkable. But what followed was that all 12 bottles were more or less the same. Just not drinkable, not even to be used for cooking a brasato. And most of all the wine was not at all resembling the wine we had been served on our visit. Of course I informed the winery that the wine was just not ok at all and what the reason might had been, certainly not the cork. Now the UGLY: They sent me 6 bottles as a replacement (why 6? I had bought 12) and as it happens all bottles of the same vintage they sold to me at the first instance , 2013. Guess what? Same experience again: completely undrinkable, all went down the sink.Learning: Visit is nice including lunch and welcome. But if you want to buy wine, think twice, you may be in for a big negative surprise (as I was). Sorry, this was not good business practice, especially at the risk, that all good comments may suffer by such a negative comment. Why should anyone intelligent enough damage his own reputation in a way like that? I thought the right reaction would have been to replace all wines by the same wine of a different younger vintage, 2014 or 2015, especially as the wines are biologically produced, which means, if not stored cool enough (at the winery) they restart to react and transform from nice to destroyed. Has anyone at the winery tried again this vintage before replacing it by the same rubbish?
