After a long day we stumbled on La Nata and were instantly drawn in by the buzz of the place. They serve an impressive Apres Ski Appetizer which seems to draw the crowd. We were hungry and decided to eat dinner there. The pasta and ravioli was tasty and just enough to fill the gap.We decided on a second night there and attempted to make a reservation. When I phoned the guy said he didn't speak English, and hung up! I was actually attempting pigeon Italian at the time. Not to be deterred we turned up, and after some fuss, got a table. We were told everything was available on the menu along with some daily specials. When we then went to order the first two items were not available any more!!! Some of the group decided on the Lasagne special and we were advised there were only 3 portions left. Well that was 2.5 as when they were served one had a parmesan/aubergine fritter in the middle!!! But we were still charged full price for the Lasagne. We were subsequently advised they only serve frozen food, as their main business is as a bar which is fair enough. If you are looking for food go elsewhere but it is a good wine bar with a good buzz for the Apres Ski.

LâEnoteca is the only restaurant in San Sicario, or the only one open during our stay in Feb 2013, but a good choice anyway. Very short, local menu - bagna cauda, fondue and hot stone grill mainly, but all of superb quality. And an informal, friendly atmosphere. It doubles as a wine shop/bar and has a huge range, unsurprisingly with a focus on local Piemonte wines such as Nebbiolo. The owner is welcoming, and really knows his wine. And our pannacotta was sublime. Recommended.

Good house red wine. Open all day is a bonus as most other bars donât open until past 4pm so not many places to go early afternoon. A real sub trap and nice little courtyard to sit in. Music a bit loud as I was alone and writing but this would be fine for couples.

Italy is best known for its local specialities, so on our first visit to this part of Italy, we were keen to try some. We could not have asked for a better guide than the hostess of this restaurant...no need to struggle with my basic grasp of Italian as she spoke perfect English, being Canadian in origin. The place was very atmospheric and hummed with activity, but the service was still excellent and attentive. The wine list was amazing, as you might expect since this is an "enoteca con cucina" but included some very reasonably priced wines, starting from c. 11 Euros. We pitched only a little higher than this and enjoyed the wine very much. The food was great too, very unusual and different to what we had had before but flavourful and well-balanced. I would go there again without hesitation if we are in the area again.
