Traditional tuscan restaurant, specialized in tortelli mugellani (with potatoes) handmade every day. Simple and genuine cuisine based on first quality ingredients.Simple menu card with few but very nice dishes: tuscan starters, fresh tortelli and ravioli
This was an incredible meal with amazing service. The ravioli was incredible, we had it with duck, wild boar and oil/cheese. All were incredible. Also the tagliatelle with wild boar. 4 different pizzas, all incredible. The only complaint is they are only open for dinner Thursday-Sunday so we can only go once!! They are open for breakfast and lunch and the bar is open until 8pm the other nights. Highly recommend.

Don t ask me how the name of the restaurant,"Passaguai"translates into English.Just try their food.Simple, yet surprisingly innovativ, fresh, dekightful and..cheap.I enjoyed the Mozarella di Buffala, tartufo nero e prosciutto Toscan, the Battuta di manzo al cotello con pommodore secciand Oppure tartufo nero estivo. You can observe the young chef Christian Borchi through a glasspanel at work in his small kitchen and his business partner Simone Draisci,42 years old and a veteran of 29 years in the bar/restaurant business, including for years as the sommelier of the famous Florence eatery Enoteca Pinchiorri, three Michelin stars,is running the service, never forgetting to tell tourists that they should try his other restaurant,in nearby Vicchio, the Locanda Antica Porta di Levante. The courage of these young partners,to open a modern place in a rather dusty, traditional town, is awarded:the "Passaguai"is packed and these days enlarged. If you should travel to the Northern region of Tuscany,to towns like Vicchio,Barberino,Borgo San Lorenzo, you will be surprised how many new restaurants like .Maga Mago"are blossoming,or how famous the Oliotheka of Paolo Pasquali of the Villa Campestri has becomme internationally. You can feel the fresh wind of innovation, the courage of young ches,Italians, who do not echo the sad politicians, who predict, once again, the end of Italy.

We visited this restaurant during the "Hot Days" fest....Since it was cool outside, we ate inside at a table overlooking the hills. The cuisine here was different than the usual Italian fare...For example, the mushroom soup contained very little liquid--very tasty, but different. The tagliolini with the Mugello black truffles was delicious, as were the meatballs served with caramelised onions...a good meld of flavours..The pappardelle with boar sauce contained very little sauce, mostly boar meat, but was again very tasty. The tagliata with mozzarella was delicious as well. The restaurant sits in the centre of town, and one can easily explore the "shopping" street. Parking is not normally difficult--even during a fest! Most of the diners that evening were locals, and were warmly welcomed by the staff, which was very efficient as well as friendly.

Run by a very knowledgeable front of house couple who really know their food, wine and coffee! From outside this place doesn't look much but when you get into the old converted cellar which once belonged to the Medici family you will be impressed, it's a fabulous environment in which to dine. The food is really top notch, simple but very well cooked and presented. The main man knows his wines too and he will advise accordingly. A real surprise was to be given a coffee menu at the end which was explained in detail, I tried the Ethiopian style which had a salty taste and was very good indeed.
