Reviews on Wine Bar food in Bergen, Western Norway, Norway. The colorful Norwegian city of Bergen is also a gateway to majestic fjords. Bryggen Hanseatic Wharf will give you a sense of the local culture – take some time to snap photos of the Hanseatic commercial buildings, which look like scenery from a movie set. Don’t breathe too deeply when you visit the outdoor fish market, a reminder of the city’s role in early fish trade. Ferry across a fjord to Lysøen, where the former villa of 19th-century composer Ole Bull will captivate you with fairytale charm.

I was super excited to find this place, failing our first attempt the other night, as it is tucked into an alley. The ambience is great, cozy, with couches and candles. A lot of patrons frequented, with much conversation and laughter. The pizza was superb, but alas as a âvinbarâ it was very disappointing. The Viognier I order at first was a bit nasty, and I asked for a Pinot Gris to follow, but a Reisling was the best they had. In fairness, I think it is de rigeur to order by the bottle, as the menu does not offer wines by the glass. Even so, it wasnât clear to me that they knew much about wine.As I say, the pizza was quite good, and the cheese plate with parma and salami equally good - a Norwegian cheese was superb.Failing as did the wine, the service was terribly slow and inattentive, which accounts for a good bit of this rating. At one point after waiting a long time for our second glass of wine, I asked the server how that (the wine order) was coming along. He astonished me by replying âI will when I have time.â I hesitate to give such a rating, but it was as we experienced it.

Don Pippo is an intimate, informal and cosy winebar for great wines and continental and local specialities - everything home made. Approx. 150 different wines on the menu with a constantly evolving wine-by-the-glass list of 20 selections.
We came to Don Pippo because where we wanted to eat was full. They suggested Don Pippo and we are so glad! My husband was talked into the dinner by the chef, who just must have dropped it off. It is called, komle, or raspeball, or Kompe, or klump. It was delicious. Small, intimate, and authentic spot. We had a nice bottle of wine (the bartenderâs suggestion), and, what we perceived to be, a real Norwegian experience.

This is Bergen's oldest known tavern, which dates back to approx. the 17th century. located in the Augustin Hotel. what a cozy atmosphere. The bartender was fabulous he let us try a few wines until we found ones we both like. we order the meat cheese platter and deserts. Very nice place for a quick bite and some wonderful wine.
