Things to do in Chau Doc
Found this restaurant after reading about it in Footprints travel book. (Footprints lists address as 74 Trung Nu Vuong, but we found it to be located at # 26). Two of us shared a generous serving of steamed shrimp in coconut water and a couple beers. It was served with a delicious spicy dipping sauce. You have to peel the shrimp and it can be a messy process but that's part of the fun of eating super fresh seafood! At 200,000 vnd($10) for the shrimp it's not the cheapest meal in town, but it was delicious and it's more than enough to share. The menu is in Vietnam/English which is good because I don't think they spoke any English but there were lots of smiles going around watching us peel and eat. They bring you a cold, wet, herbal smelling washcloth to clean yourself up after the fun.
Very flattish, not tasty. We are French and we use to eat good food and definitely it was not the case, I could say acceptable but the fish, clams, vegetables weren't cooked. Furthermore our environment was a waste bin.The river is full of detritus especially close to the floating restaurant. It s a very hard task to find a good address in this city. Good luck!
Lovely little restaurant for lunch or evening meal . Good prices, staff very helpful even when not quite sure what we asked for. On the main road but nice little garden area with shade or without .

La Giang Restaurant & Bar serves all-day dining featuring authentic southern Vietnamese & Western cuisine, with an international and Asian breakfast, in a spacious indoor dining room with stunning 180-degree views over the valley below showcased by large
Went here in a group of 13 and it was basically a shambles. The orders were carefully written down but then the meals were delivered at lengthy intervals- and to the wrong people. Side serves of vegetables arrived 45" after the main meal they were meant to accompany. Wine by the glass was delivered already poured rather than poured at the table so we never got to see the bottle. There was a European menu and coupled with the decor we expected something approaching western standards- but were disappointed and the food was not great either. The restaurant was hot and not air-conditioned - yet we were not allowed to sit on the verandah where there was a breeze - despite the fact no one else was there. For these prices in Vietnam you expect a LOT better. Would not recommend.

Based on other reviews we picked this restaurant for our flexitarian day. Great pick! Very tasty food, lots of choice and spicy.Prices also very reasonable at 30k-45k dong each for the different plates. When you're coming from the night market, it's one block towards the river in the street running parallel to the river.

We ate dinner here at the recommendation of the hotel staff where we were staying. We asked the waitress to suggest some dishes, and we were so pleased with her recommendations. The food was all fresh and delicious. The morning glory was especially yummy, and after ordering seconds, the chef kindly offered us an extra plate of morning glory to put in our soup.

Sadly, many markets have been relocated out of the cities in Vietnam. This one is still very much a central part of the town, heaving with people, with lots of goods and a great vibe. A photographers dream.

Troung Van had a local flavor, was located near the night market, and half the people in the restaurant were backpackers (probably thanks to Trip Advisor). Actually, the restaurant was packed, and most of the patrons were Westerners (and not all backpackers), with only one or two large Vietnamese families. The menu, as you might expect, is in English, and the tables and chairs are probably a concession to Westerners. We had spring rolls, fried rice with egg, and a shrimp dish. The food wasnât bad, but as I noted at the time, it was the âmost mediocre mealâ we experienced in two weeks in Vietnam. Safe choice, relatively cheap, but donât expect much.

The sophisticated Bassac Restaurant overlooks the Chau Doc River and features typical Southern Vietnamese cuisine as well as International favorites. Its indoor and outdoor areas are popular for their breathtaking sunrise views. Seating capacity: 100 gues
This restaurant is located on the ground floor of the Victoria Hotel, it has an indoor dining area or guests can sit outside on the terrace with views over the River Bassac.Thursday evening 10th January we were staying the night in the hotel and we decided to sit outside on the terrace for our dinner and some drinks. We chose our meals from the "snack" menu rather that the "main" menu. Before ordering our meals we ordered some beers, it was really relaxing and enjoyable to sitting out on the terrace watching the variety of boats and other crafts sail past along the River Bassac (restaurant named after). We ordered 2 Vietmanese pork baguettes, which were served with chips, very filling and tasty, they cost about 110,000 VND (just under $5 US) each.We ordered bottles of Larue beer which were 55,000 VND (roughly $2.5 US)each, this included 5% service charge and 10% VAT.The following morning before we checked out of the hotel we had breakfast in the restaurant, with its charming staff and pleasant decor.Dear David D,Thank you much for reviewing our Restaurant, and staying in our hotel,Please do not hesitate to share to us, via the private message option on TripAdvisor, what could we add to our services to obtain your even higher satisfaction. The voice of our guests is a great input and we consider it with the most interest.Looking forward to welcome you back in the Mekong Delta!Best regards,NicolasGeneral Manager
