Mariiupil [mɑrʲiˈjupilʲ]; Russian: Мариу́поль [mərʲɪˈupəlʲ]; Greek: Μαριούπολη, translit. Marioupoli) is a city of regional significance in south eastern Ukraine, situated on the north coast of the Sea of Azov at the mouth of the Kalmius river, in the Pryazovia region. It is the tenth-largest city in Ukraine, and the second largest in the Donetsk Oblast with a population of 449,498 (2017 est.). The city is largely and traditionally Russophone, while ethnically the population is divided about evenly between Russians and Ukrainians. Mariupol was founded on the site of a former Cossack encampment named Kalmius and granted city rights in 1778. It has been a centre for the grain trade, metallurgy, and heavy engineering, including the Illich Steel & Iron Works and Azovstal. Mariupol has played a key role in the industrialization of Ukraine.

Pretty disappointing - I imagine this place was once good - now itâs faded, scruffy, over-priced and disappointing.I started with a Greek Salad - it was feeble, with the low-light being sesame seeds. For some reason they put sesame seeds on a Greek salad! I know!I also ordered pork shashlik - the waitress asked me what kind of portion Iâd like, and I said small/normal.What arrived was 400 grams (a lot!) of over-cooked, gristly pork piled up with raw onion slices. And it was expensive. I do get the feeling I was ripped off deliberately. I wouldâve put up with it if the food were any good, it wasnât. The food was bad!Oh and the sauce that came with the shashlik (at extra cost - it was was offered to me when I ordered then it only arrived when prompted) - was just a small pot of bland tinned tomatoes. Avoid this place.

Maybe it was too late and they had sold out, but my veal baked with three peppers had to do with just one :-) still, the waitress was very helpful and willing to accommodate the many needs of our large party.I might come back if the dish comes the way it is described in the menu!

Everything was fine -the interior,the ambience,even newspaper dedicated to the history of Mariupol city and is edited by the restaurant, was an excellent nuance for the atmosphere of the venue. I ordered Greek salad,Camambert and 2 glasses of wine. The wine was exceprional,cheese was OK but salad was a bit of dissapointment for me .I pointed the waiter for the mistakes with salad and he promised to tell it to chef.The staff was very friendly and nice.I would say that this is the best place in the city
