First mentioned in records in 934, it is the seat of the district (Landkreis) which bears its name. It is located roughly 45km to the west of Hamburg and belongs to that city's wider metropolitan region. Within the area of the city are the urban districts of Bützfleth, Hagen, Haddorf and Wiepenkathen, each of which have a council ("Ortsrat") of their own with some autonomous decision-making rights.

The Renas Grill is a discrete Turkish Imbiss on the corner.Is located in a corner surrounded by nearly only city offices and is most visited at lunch time.This Imbiss distinguish by been cleaner and pleasanter than most similar places.The grill is staffed only by his owner that delivers an efficient, and friendly service.

I had the mixed grill and it was fresh tasting and well prepared and cooked. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive. Americans should bring cash or a German credit card, because none of the standard international cards were able to be used at this restaurant.

Ich komme da oft vorbei, interessant sind für mich vor allem die schon fertig gekochten Tagesgerichte z.B. mit Hackfleisch gefüllte Auberginen, Bulgur mit Gemüse, groÃe StangenBohnen in Tomatensauce, Dolma vegi und mit Fleisch, die leckeren Manti in Sauce. Man kann da auch sitzen, es ist alles in einem Raum. Die Portionen sind groÃ, die Preise sehr fair, das Essen erkennbar selbstgemacht, es gibt immer Salat und Brot dazu, das Brot ist kein typisches Fladenbrot, sondern flacher, auÃen knusprig und innen nicht trocken. Die Küche ist anatolisch, also nicht wie an der Küste, sondern mehr Richtung Osten mit Einflüssen aus dem Kaukasus, Iran und Syrien. Für den unkomplizierten Hunger immer empfehlenswert.

Eine riesengroÃe Salattheke und diverse Tische laden zum Geniessen ein. Man muss aber sein Tablett selbst zum Tisch bringen und wieder entsorgen, wie bei allen Gastros im Marktkauf.Wenn nicht zu viel Andrang ist, kann man sich mit dem Besitzer nett unterhalten.
