Thai in the area. Including several in Portland. A huge four page menu, specials and a whole page of traditional favorites. Had fish cakes, wonderful, with a sweet sour cucumber sauce, a delicious green papaya salad that would come with chicken breast or shrimp additional, and ginger chicken. Everything was great, service again is not the fastest, but family run and one waitress. There were 6 tables of customers and 8 take away orders in the hour we were there. Medium is pretty hot so try mild the first time you go.

Malai Thai is an unassuming restaurant sitting apart in a strip mall by a very busy highway that is under construction. The decor is simple, but the food is excellent, with fresh ingredients and great flavors. Their beer/wine options are very limited, though it includes a tasty IPA. The portions are generous, and delicious, and service was quick. We were surprised there wasn't a line to get in!

Okay 6 years ago we went here and then needed a little break. Their tenth anniversary, so the banner pulled us in. Tried unsuccessfully for a lunch price on the weekend, no mention of the Pho special advertised on the anniversary banner. Got green papaya salad, spiciness 2 out of 5 and ginger chicken, 3 out of 5. The salad made our tongues raw and was spicier than the chicken which was spicy for a three, The waiter, fast and friendly was not concerned we stopped eating and seemed unmoved by our comments about the salad being too hot to eat. Everyone else seemed fine and we used to live in Texas, so I do not know.....think we will wait another 8 years,

A couple of friends and I stopped in here for lunch. There isn't much to the place inside, just a few tables and the hot sauces already set on each table. I don't often eat out for lunch, so the soup that they bring out before your order was a nice little starter. Great flavor, something I hadn't had before (almost a sweet and sour taste to it), but the veggies were chopped into very big pieces. One of us got the Pad See Ew- which he loved it, I got the Pad Thai (my typical go to when trying a new thai place) and another person had the Pho. The Pho was a huuuuge serving, so you better have an appetite! My Pad Thai was good and I would order it again, but it was a bit on the pricier side for lunch. Most places I eat Thai food at is around 7.50 for the lunch menu. But! That won't stop me from trying this place again. I'm saying it's just A-Okay for now. The staff were nice as well.

Visiting Portland for a wedding with several friends and looking for vegan options for lunch, we walked in and were really happy. Great flavors, solid portions and nice service. Good value too.

A hidden gem. This place honestly, it's one of those hidden sort of gems that you only stumble upon because your friend takes you there. The food is fantastic. The ambience leaves something to be desired, but don't let that deter you. The food is really good and there is just such an interesting cultural aspect of being in the market. There are a few restaurants. I can't say that I've tried anymore than the Thai restaurant. And, it was really good. Do yourself a favor if you're ever down in the Tuallitan area, and go to this hidden gem of a restaurant. You won't be sorry.

For real though. This place is legit. Service was great. Two guys working there so personable. I had Thom yum soup that was truly the best ever! Tangy, sweet, a little spicy. AwesomeTheir drunken noodles again, best I've ever had. I ordered pork, spicy. As sauce goes, so flavorful. Great amount of egg and veggies. Overall a must visit!!

I've been to this place twice with friends. We tried their Pad Thai, egg rolls and curry. Portions are small and expensive for what you get. Ok food ,not bad. There are better Thai restaurants in the area though. And the staff are just there to give you food and no interaction or friendliness of Thai people. Most Thai I've met (Portland or Thailand) are very friendly. Maybe the staff were tired those days we visited but it was only noon!

My wife and I tried Thai Basil as it was within walking distance from our hotel. We decided to try some of the less common dishes - Garlic Halibut and Thai BBQ Chicken. Garlic Halibut was just ok. Good stir fry smell and taste, but the halibut was a tough chicken consistency. The Thai BBQ chicken was not good. It's your grocery store rotisserie style chicken which is then deep fried before serving. The meat was super tough, so much so that we had to ask for another dish of dipping sauce. We complained to our server and she said she would mention it to the kitchen. Honestly, I don't think she said anything. We ordered some takeout for the kids back at the hotel. The green curry stir fry was not bad, a good combination of green curry and stir fry taste. Pad thai was just ok, kids noted that they've had better.
