House Of Thai Rice & Noodle

It's the Wandering Yank here. Mrs. Yank and I love Thai food, and our search for excellent Thai food in the Sacramento has been frustrating. From Placerville to Sacramento to Roseville, we've had boring to good Thai food, but it's usually, at best, a step below authentic (Sophia's Thai Kitchen in Davis has been our favorite so far, but it's a bit out of the way for us. Also Boon Boon Cafe in Sacramento is a place we want to try again). But House of Thai is now at the top of our Sacramento-area list.We showed up at 5 on a Saturday and had a 15-minute list. A good sign, so obviously it's popular. It's small and bustling. Bonus points for having both Chang and Singha beer - Chang is my favorite but not common. We started with the "How We Rolls" appetizer - a delicious meal in itself. Mrs. Yank had the spicy basil chicken, which was pretty good, and I had the drunken noodles with pork, which was outstanding! It had very authentic Thai flavor. The excellent mango with sticky rice dessert was a great conclusion.Pretty inexpensive, decor is American Thai (you know what I mean if you frequent Thai restaurants), very nice service from a lovely Laotian lady, and great food. What more can one ask for? We'll be back...2 enthusiastic thumbs up!

We stopped in not knowing they had just recently opened. Man what a great idea. I had the phad thai with chicken, and it was awesome. The service was great, the food served quickly, and it was tasty! Stop in and try your favorite, I seriously doubt you will be disappointed. The prices are very reasonable too.

This is a small family-run Thai restaurant in a very unprepossessing location in a Carmichael strip mall (kitty-corner from Home Depot on Madison and Manzanita). The food, however, is very well prepared with very fresh ingredients and is truly delicious. I've been here 3 times in the last month or so and ordered take-out twice as well. The Pad-See-Euw was very good, as was the Pad Thai and a Yellow Chicken Curry that was perhaps the best I've ever had. The star at our table was the Mango Thai Fried Rice, a seasonal special that was enough for four people and was scrumptious! All portions are quite generous and all 4 of us at one dinner took home doggy bags. Don't miss the Mango and Sticky Rice for dessert, either.
