Where to eat Thai food in Luang Prabang: The Best Restaurants and Bars

Reviews on Thai food in Luang Prabang, Luang Prabang Province, Laos. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is the former capital of Laos, and you'll see everything from golden-roofed temples to vestiges of colonial French architecture here. Buddhist monasteries abound in Luang Prabang, and early every morning, monks process through the streets collecting alms (their food for the day). If you want to watch or participate, though, ask your hotel for a brief etiquette lesson first—you have to distribute the food in a specific manner.

Taken here for lunch by tour company on arrival in LP. Unusually for Laos, the food was very European in style. We had a reasonable set lunch of an excellent vegetable soup (lots of al dente veg and herbs), bland chicken with mushrooms and broccoli cooked with garlic (a strange combination), and a leaden brownie with a nice ice-cream. The restaurant is set in a beautiful garden, so even a bland meal was a very pleasant experience.Dear customers,Thank you for sharing your experience on our Tripadvisor Page. We are disappointed not to have been able to bring you full satisfaction concerning the restaurant. We offer a la carte menus to satisfy Western tastes but also Asian dishes. Currently there are many restaurants that offer Western menus. Soup is a very popular local dish in Laos, on the other hand be sure that I will personally take care to relay your comment to the chief. We are pleased to hear that you appreciated the peaceful setting of the MaiToo restaurant, with its exotic garden its lotus pond.We wish you a good continuation and a good stay in Laos!Best regards,The MaiToo Restaurant team

Pha khao Lao is a very large restaurant so you would assume their kitchen staff knows how to time dishes so they come out about at the same time (we are just 2 people, not 20!) but that was not the case. I got my noodle curry 5 minutes after ordering and my wife's food arrived a full 30 minutes later. These were not sharing dishes so I had to finish my food while my wife waited and she had to eat her food while I waited... The food was very good though. Hi haplo89,Thank you for your honest review, I appreciate the feedback. You are right about the timing and this is unacceptable and we will improve this going forward. However I am happy to hear that you enjoyed the food when it arrived.Kind regardsHarry

We just visited with my 3 children and grandma. My children loved the food, I loved the food, grandma loved the food. We had the New Zealand steak, the grilled chicken, the ribs, the local soup (I forgot the name), and the most amazing mango sticky rice. Coffee here is soooo good! And breakfast! If you are in Luang Prabang you have to eat here! Mr. Sai! Thank you for your kind and profesional service! And for all those coffee refills ☕️ ❤️Dear monicapN9557XS, Thank you choosing us to be your preferred hotel. Firstly the pedestrian bridge to cross the river is built every year (what a marvel) and lasts until the first floods. What a unique experience for us right from the start. We were efficiently welcomed at Dyen Sabai and we found a little nook with scattered cushions and a low table. We ordered our first Laos BBQ and had a demo when our food bowls arrived. O My what a treat! A section of the table was removed and a bucket of glowing hot coals was slotted into the table itself. Our cooking apparatus was placed on top. It had a slotted metal dome with a moat. Our lovely waiter poured some broth into the moat from our kettle and used chopsticks to rub a piece of pork fat over the dome - this was ultimately to stop the meat / soya sticking to it when cooking. We had fresh herbs and eggs also that we put into the broth to cook whilst we cooked the meat / soya. We cooked and ate at the same time and entered our own little world concentrating on the fresh delightful food. The food was fantastic and fresh. There are lots of little alcoves for privacy and family group facilities - but I would highly recommend you BOOK.it was dark when we returned across the bridge. A few beers later the water rushing below our feet and the little lights made a memorable experience. There is a toll - a family member sat in a hut at the end of the bridge. The money pays for the construction of a new bridge next year.Go Go Go - we loved it! Thank you to the people of LaoWe cannot recommend highly enoughThank you for visiting and your review, we are glad that you had a great time in our restaurant. Looking forward to see you again soon
