At the top of Bavaria and dating back to at least the 11th century, Coburg sat undiscovered by many late 20th century tourists, surrounded as it was on three sides by the former East Germany. The town’s main attraction, impossible to miss since it overlooks the town, is the 13th century Veste Coburg Castle, one of Germany’s largest and most beautiful. Sometimes called the Franconian Crown, today it’s home to three museums. Reformer Martin Luther, then an outlaw, spent five months here in 1530.

A little difficult to find if you are not familiar with the outskirts of Coburg. Ran by a Thai lady (who speaks German), you feel welcome from the very beginning. She does remember all her regular customers. It is a take out and sit in place. Though the place is tiny (majority is for take out), the small team is excellent. Inside has about 10 seats, while outside is a small garden. They have a nice selection of dishes, drinks of the fridge, deserts and appetizers as well. The food is superb, especially the spicy ones!Finding this place in lil Coburg is truly a nice add on!

This is a small hole in a wall eatery, which is owned and operated by a Thai family. The eatery is very cosy and has a relaxing atmosphere. The menu offered many authentic Thai dishes. We ordered Thai salad, tom yum soup, chicken curry, basil chicken and stir fired vegetables. They used many fresh ingredients and spices in their cooking. The food was delicious and the service was very fast.

The kitchen is run by Thais, so we expected some authentic Thai cooking. The menu has a wide range of Thai dishes and Thai beer is also available too.We ordered the somtum papaya salad, seafood wunsen noodles, tom yum soup and chicken satay for appetizers. As for the main course, we ordered the massaman chicken curry, fried duck red curry, fried fish with sauce and basil chicken. With the limitations of the fresh Thai ingredients in Germany, the kitchen did very well in reproducing taste similar to the original ones in Thailand. The food was very flavoful and spicy too.Lastly, we had the fried banana as our dessert. It was excellent too.The service was very good overall too. We had an enjoyable meal and would come back again.
I've ordered lunch here a few times as a take away and have eaten in the restaurant once. The food is good and freshly made, my personal favourite is the crispy sweet and sour duck. I also personally prefer the take away to the restaurant. Service is fast and friendly but the restaurant has a cafeteria flair.
