We visited the second last day of the season. The restaurant had the ambience of an abandoned place despite having actually quiet a few guests. The food choice was severely limited.STaff were frienldy and when the food arrived it was palatable. Nothing freat but ok. The restaurant maybe is a lot better if in season. We will give it another try for sure.
These extremely nice people even served a vegetarian dinner at its best. Besides the excellent food you enjoy a spectacular view over the vals valley

large variety for dinner (less variety for lunch) of regional (their "capuns" are very good) and swiss food of acceptable quality with friendly staffaverage cost per person (starter, main course, dessert, drink but no wine) around 40 sfr, average for the areathe restaurant is comfortable, wooden walls, floor and ceilling without views. the summer terrace looks nice and with views. the bar is a smoking place where meals are also served with a view to the mountains

they serve regional and swiss dishes and they also have a good hunting food varietyi tried their rösti with ham and chesse (pls i fried egg that i specially requested) which was very goodthe desserts also had good level
Had a wonderful dinner with friendly service and thoroughly enjoyed trying the raclette dinner for two. We loved it and would be very happy to go back to Alpenrose again to try something else.

39.40.- ch fr it is the price for some local sausages ( not at all outstanding ) and 2 glasses of poor Sangiorgio red wines... Don't bother adding the cost of the ingredients it is a ripoff We did stay for the meal ! Who can afford poor food at expensive prices ?Dear guest,We are very sorry that you had a bad experience in our restaurant based on poor perceived value for the price. We are truly sorry that you did not like the Sangiornio vine. It comes from a small vineyard in the Swiss canton of Ticino. The renown winemaker Mattia Bianda works with passion on his 400 year old estate and the wine shows a special character that is not to everyone's liking. Nevertheless we think that CHF 8.50 is a fair price for this product.Concerning the sausage we are proud to use local products but they have their price, which again for CHF 13.90 is not a rip off in our view.Please don't hesitate to approach us next time you enjoy the beautiful scenery in Zervreila. We would like to invite you for another good wine that is hopefully more to your liking, tell you more about the heritage of the "Salsiz" sausage and ensure we can keep you as a pleased guest.

Last week I stayed at the inn on Thursday evening. Following a long drive from Zurich, and a trip from Los Angeles, I eagerly awaited arrival in Vals. Dining outdoors on the cobblestone plaza was a delight. Food was highly creative, with a very interesting menu. My choice, a veal dish, fresh cut of veal that was sublime, though CHF 43. And three slices of veal, with a mouth watering green salad and potatoes.

Every Saturday, the restaurant has a special, which I would like to highly recommend! Besides great buffets for starter and dessert, you have a huge choice of vegetables, meat, sides and sauces, which you put yourself together and let be cooked in front of your eyes - if lucky even directly by the owner who loves to talk with you and tell you stories about the place! And for all of this: as much as you can eat & drink!

We visited Vals back on October 28 and 29 2010. The night of the 29th we ate at La Cucina. The service, the food and wine was excellent. I loved the bread and cheese table. The atmosphere was very comforting. We loved our meals. The presentation of the dishes were so picturesque we didn't want to eat the entree but hunger overpowered the thought. We left quite satisfied!!
