The restaurant "Genussfabrik" in Solothurn is easy to reach by public transport, as well as by car and there are parking places. The restaurant is located in a former factory building. It also has a beautiful garden where you can pamper yourself in the summer. After it became known in July 2019 that Sylvia Steiner, as the director of the «Genussfabrik», surrenders, her cook Peter Riner agreed to step into the breach and continue the business as owner. "We stick to the existing concept of the kitchen," informs Riner"We", that's him and his life partner Brigitte Fankhauser, who ran a restaurant in Guatemala for the past 23 years and returned home a few weeks after the "Genussfabrik" reopened to work with Peter Riner. Everything is cooked fresh, based on the classic French cuisine. We were a group of 12 people that evening and could book. Everything worked perfectly. After this beautiful and enjoyable evening we can recommend the following dishes:- Cordon Bleu of pork with Buurehamme and Solothurn mare cheese, served with Bärner frites- Roasted salmon fillet on fresh spinach leaves with saffron sauce, served with pilau rice- Vegetable curry with chick-pea cakes and basmati rice- Stirred iced coffee with KalhualikörThe "Genussfabrik" in Solothurn also shines with its website. Walk over it with your eyes; no matter what you choose, this fresh and creative cuisine will delight you.The friendly service is another important plus point; we'll be back.

We go to this Restaurant now and then, when we want to celebrate we choose the Tower Restaurant and can only recommend the friendly service, the excellent kitchen and the location itself in the centre of Solothurn - with a great view from the tower

Solothurn was long overdue for a nice french restaurant and the brassierie delivers. Staek tartare is great and the mussels, which they offer all year round, and constantly fantastic. They offer smallish bites as well, which is great for a quick snack. Prices are quite high but the quality always delivers.

Take A Seat For Small Plates And Good Wines In A Homely Atmosphere. Locates In The Middle Of The Old Town, Near The Theatre.
This is a cosy restaurant that has a limited menu (19 items on a board) plus an extensive drinks menu. The idea is to pick several (staff recommend 3) items as the equivalent of a full meal. When we visited, the menu contained meatballs, deer in a red wine sauce, chicken strips in white wine and maple syrup as well as soup, vegetables, chips, fried rice balls, a take on Austrian Knödel (a sort of dumpling) and fried rice balls. Water is free. Overall the food was good and tasty and the concept works well. The menu is in in Swiss German so you may need some help but the staff and friendly and the ambience is relaxed. We spent 77 Swiss France including 4 glasses of wine , 6 dishes for main course and an a shared dessert. Each dish was either 7 or 9 francs in our selection.

We stopped by recently, a larger group of friends for a relaxing lunch. The atmosphere is relaxed, menu interesting and service fast and friendly. The goat cheese in filopastry was a hit but other items on the menu are just as nice.Located in city centre, it's a great experience.

The establishment had a sign showing that they serve warm food from 11:30-21:45, hence why we chose this place. When we went inside, we were told that they only serve from their small menu, and from it, even only a small section of it was possible. We requested to speak to the âbossâ, who then told us that theyâre short on staff on Tuesdays and itâs production day. After we replied that THAT is not our problem, she retorted with arrogance that we should go somewhere else. One of our professional backgrounds was in the hospitality industry (working in different countries too), and hearing such arguments that are even so weak (even coming from âthe bossâ!) is an absolute no-go. In any case, arrogance in the âhospitalityâ industry is a paradox â it defies its meaning.

Elegant, vibrant, modern and welcoming: this is La Couronneâs restaurant. The kitchenâs style is based on French cuisine, serving dishes like cote de veau or sole grillee, classic brasserie recipes (including offal) or creative seasonal specialities. The
I had a cod main course and my husband the cordon bleu de porc and a dessert between us. We both enjoyed our meals which compared very favourably to other restaurants we have been to in Switzerland. We decided we made the right choice that evening.

Solothurn is an expensive town. For work, we were looking for a restaurant that looked filled with locals (usually a sign of good price-quality ratio) at a decent price. After looking all around town at menus and prices, this one was our best option. And we were not disappointed. The 10 of us were very satisfied with this meal and really enjoyed it. It was delicious, and service was great.I had fish that melted in my mouth, with really good Swiss wine. One note that was helpful too was the menu in English and a server that spoke French. Much appreciated.

We had lunch at the Alten Stephan while sightseeing in Solothurn (which is a gorgeous small town!) It is in the historic centre, in a lovely old building. The restaurant has a lot of windows and is nicely furnished. Service was impeccable and always with a smile. The food was very good. We had a salad to start - only comment would be that the sauce was perhaps a little too sweet - and the Wienerschnitzel with frites to follow. This was the best Wienerschnitzel either of us have ever had. Delicious! This is not a cheap place - the two course lunch for two with 5dl of red wine from Vaud, mineral water and a coffee was 140frs. but we felt what we ate was worth the price. There were lunch time menus available - for less - but the dishes on them were not what we wanted.
