We had a great dinner at Bistro des Alpes this week - we all took different burgers and they were amazing! The chips were also great! The staff is very friendly and helpful. The Bistro is perfectly located in the centre of the village.I will definitely be back!

When we saw this hotel from the outside we werent expecting that much. It looked a fairly unexciting modern building on the main road up the valley. However once we got inside everything got much better. For a start despite them being closed on the day of our arrival everything has been nicely laid out so we could easily find our key plus other useful things such as breakfast times and WiFi codes. There was a number to call them if needed but because of their preparation there was no need. Our room was really lovely inside, with nice finishing touches such as wood on the walls and furnishings. The shower in the room was very big and had both an overhead sprinkler and one you could hold in your hand. Also the WiFi signal was nice and strong in the room.We also had a balcony that we could use for airing our clothes after a days walking. When you closed the door of the balcony you shut out all the noise from the road, which although isnt really busy does carry all the traffic going to and from Zermatt so isnt exactly quiet.Breakfast was really good and we also heard the staff their helpful guests make taxi reservations of looking up the weather for them, which is always a good sign. The price we paid was also good for what we got. This hotel is about a 400m walk from the centre of St Niklaus and the train station but given that most people are here for walking this shouldnt be a problem. As the restaurant wasnt open on our night in this hotel we went to the Monte Rosa restaurant, which served very tasty food at a good price. We had deer stew which was delicious.

Nice cozy restaurant on top of a mountain. One of the better restaurant in the area. Nice design, both inside and on the terrace. The food was not too healthy, but then again, rosti and raclette are traditionally not served with any vegetables. Staff could have been nicer; maybe we shouldn't have come around closing time.

The Riederstübli is my must visit when passing through the Mattertal or going up to Grächen. The little restaurant is at the very end of the valley with a breathtaking view of the Riedglacier. the sun terrace provides a beautiful view and sun all day long. My "must-have" meal is the Chässchnitte spezial, Sonia's one and only baked cheese on bread soaked in white wine and covered with onions, ham and garlic - GREAT! The fiting desert is her blueberry pie, a top hit as well. We always call in advance to make sure that she puts aside a slice or two. Sonia and her husband are perfect hosts, incredibly friendly and open, always with a big smile on their faces.

Lovely outdoor terrace in summer with friendly staff. The food isn't the highlight of a meal here but rather the setting and views.

The âRestaurant Walliserstubeâ, is a small but cosy restaurant in the hart of Grächen, a tiny Swiss village located in the Kanton Wallis. The interior reminds you of typical Swiss folklore. The walls are decorated with antlers, everything has a wooden finish and in the centre of the room you have a hearth. Reaching the restaurant isnât a walk in the park unfortunately. For the people who already live in the village there is no problem, but for the outsiders itâs a bit tricky because Grächen is lain halfway on a mountain. You can however take the bus at the bottom of the mountain and it will take you right up to the doorstep of the restaurant. But letâs talk about whatâs truly important, the food. The restaurant offers a wide range of both conventional and non-conventional Swiss dishes, all of top quality. There are a few dishes I would recommend; first of all the âGletcher Steak mit Kräuterbutterâ, you can get this with either fries or croquettes. The plate looks appealing and I guarantee, the taste is just as wonderful. Next is the âRacletteâ, I would recommend ordering this dish in the winter because you can see how the cheese is melted before your eyes, and when the snow covers the roof tops you get a warm pleasant feeling. The last dish I would like to recommend is the âCordon Blueâ. The tender meat is always perfectly cooked to the cuisine you ask. Hats off to the chef for this. The only comment I have is that the food does take a bit of time to be prepared. This however is more than compensated for by the lip-smacking aromaâs, yummy meat and delightful fries.

Went here several times and each time the food has been absolutely fabulous, the service is fantastic, warm, friendly and the view is amazing. Tobias Williner serves up food that is simply "delicious". The amuse-bouche was a sliver of cheese pie which is like desert before the main course.. Lovely. The 500ml mug of beer that I ordered has ice on the bottom, so the beer stays ice cold for your whole meal, just the way I like it. Had the Lamb entrecôte which was the daily special and was blown away by the perfection to which the lamb was made and scrumptious potato gnocchi that comes with the lamb yum yum.... The Schweineschnitzel Wiener Art mit Pommes Frites was also a big hit at our table with the kids and of course myself, could not resist and my kid took half of it down. Lightly breaded and cooked again to perferction. The best schweineschnitzel that i have tasted in Switzerland!!!!! The raclette is amazing, so is the rosti, the Walliser Teller is fantastic to share between a table. If you go to Grachen go here, take a lovely mountain walk/hike from the town and you will be rewarded with the culinary delights thatthe Bargji-Alp restaurant has to offer. We will return next time around.

Definitely worth a visit, for âaprès skiâ after a day on the slopes at Sigis bar (the place to be in Graechen!) as well as for fine dining in the beautifully renovated restaurant. The modern wooden interior is very pleasant and we also very much enjoyed the traditional meat dishes such as âCordon bleuâ or the authentic local dishes from the Valais like âSennenroestiâ. Fair pricing and a very attentive waitress complete our very good impression.
