We have been walking past this restaurant for the last 8 months. We finally went inside and had a meal.Don't let the frontage fool you, inside the restaurant there are beautiful views across to the Jura from the large dining room. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Our meals were delicious and generous portions. We look forward to dining there again soon. Also a nice spot for a beer on the street side.

The Restaurant Gasthof Mühle in Aesch welcomes you with its modern and comfortable design. Indulge yourself a time-out to be our guest. We are offering traditional and local cuisine as well as modern fresh meals. We are focusing to buy all ingredients fro
What a great surprise. Â Gasthof Muhle is tucked away in Aesch near Basel. Â It is a Michelin recommended restaurant for 2012 and well deserving of the recognition. Â My wife, son and I went there for Mother's day. Â We were greeted by friendly waiters in black and white uniform in a restaurant split by a remarkable wine display case and fresh flowers on every table. Â As our Swiss German is horrible, we were served by the manager, Jean-Daniel Moix, who is fluent in Swiss-German, French, and English. Â We learned that Mr. Moix spent eight years abroad as a chef, was a chef at this restaurant (evident by a painting of him in chef attire on the wall of the restaurant) and now is the restaurant manger for the last 3 years. Â The food was the best meal I have had so far in Basel. Â We start with a complementary taster of a wine/mushroom terrine with fresh cheese and potato salad. Â My starter was a delicious mini puff pastry with fresh asparagus, garnished with pesto, alfelfa sprouts and parsley. Â My main was outstanding...A duo of perfectly grilled beef in red wine sauce and veal in a morels mushroom sauce. It came with crispy dauphinois potatos and fresh assorted vegetables. Â For dessert, we had homemade rhubarbs sorbet with fresh strawberries in a yummy sabayon cream sauce. Â For digestifs, they role out a nice cart of whiskey, cognac, and port for selection. Â For 3 courses it was only 58chf, very reasonable for Swiss standards. All in all,no boring Swiss food here, just great dishes full of flavor and tasty delights. Â It is a local treasure and a must visit for expat foreigners like myself who appreciate great tastes.

We had a warm welcome altough without reservation, we were 4 this evening and all had beef/angus on stonegrill. Excellent, with a nice choice of wines of all classes. Weâll certainly come again.

Our navigation guided us to this place as we ventured off the highway duuring a snow blizzard looking for a traditional pizzeria. We were not really welcomed by the staff but shown a table and promptly given the menu. Drinks were delivered fast, pizza took about 20 mins. and tasted OK. No real kick for the taste buds and advertised toppings were sparse. Second drinks order for a beer took 15 mins. to deliver by which time we had already finished our meal. Coffee tasted good. No real surprises, meal for two adults and two kids added up to CHF 80,- which is not too bad. Still would not come again.

There are many good restaurants in the Basel area, but this was the best one I visited during my week-long stay. The Wirtshaus zum Schlüssel is a lovely place to dine in Muttenz, on the outskirts of Basel. The food was amazing and the staff was super friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was comfortable and inviting. Every dish was prepared just right with the utmost care from high quality ingredients. The prices are very reasonable. We had the fake/false snails (falschi Schnägge ... actually beef cubes baked with herb butter) on recommendation of the house and we were NOT disappointed! The Wienerschnitzel also looked delicious. My colleague said he was going to go home and dream about the food, it was so good. If you're staying at Hotel Baslertor, it's a ~10 minute stroll down a nice street in Muttenz. Give the Schlüssel a try. You won't regret it!

The large terrace overlooking the valley is the real reason to dine here. We have been eating dinner here watching the sunset over Basel at several occasions. It is perfect for taking a walk in the hills and having dinner afterwards. The food is pricy and the service is a bit quirky. Nothing really bad to say about the food - it is nice and served in large portions. You can unfortunately not reserve a table outside unless you book for at least 10 persons.

We went to this trendy restaurant..because we follow the comments...even if the restaurant is not in the center. It offers all for a talented..and this cook definitely is, to be THE place for all the rather also trendy ,young with a bit of money people. - You cross the street and enter passing all the costy bikes and the beautiful garden..and enter in a dark restaurant where you are seated hopefully next to another group of successful people enjoying loudly. We were lucky to be so far away but this had the opposite effect that they forget you. Waitresses are nice..very informal..they talk to the people they seem to know...but they are SLOW..inefficient and to WAIT (it is an expensive place) for bread..20 minutes..for the dish (excellent fish BUT NOTHING WITH IT)..another 20 minutes..and another 20 for the smallest dessert we have ever eaten! My partner got a stiff neck from turning to the waiter to get the bill. But we could see that the locals...liked it..and they seem to have all eaten before because we left hungry but the bill was as quite expensive for what you get.To summ up:This owner responds to a specific client who would not go a normal restaurant...The plates are hand made...the fish comes from a happy fish and so does the meat come from a happy animal. the wine comes from hand picked owners..and you feel so good!but if you search for a place after a hard day and want to EAT and feel welcome..you might be disappointed.

Enjoyment of meat with a long tradition There is scarcely another restaurant that can equal the Ochsenâs close association with the enjoyment of fine quality meat. For several generations the perfect symbiosis between our warm hospitality and excellent me
I went to the ochsen making a detour on my way home.I was very disappointed to be told that the kitchen was closed at 21.10. And the way was not professional. I will not do a detour anymore and not recommend this restaurant anymore. This is not the service I expect.Disappointing.

Who would expect to find such a beauty along this ordinary street...I have been to this place since its opening in April 2015 for coffee breaks, lunches and dinners... Bruno Mürner and his team have changed this place from night into glowing day. The cuisine is very creative, regional, and you can taste that every dish is prepared with love. The staff is very friendly and adds to the welcoming atmosphere of the restaurant which always gives me a home-like feeling. Thinking of the garden, even I become speechless: nature at its best! Bruno: Congratulations! You have indeed brought the garden into the restaurant and thus, this place has become one of my favorites, not only during summer but also on a rainy, cold day!

The witches decoration and the candlelit tables together make for a very attractive atmosphere. It was not easy to read the menu in the darkened restaurant but the food was excellent. The pumpkin soup was excellent and the skewered meat selection a great choice. Hope to return soon again.
