The Brasserie of the new Volkshaus Basel was designed by Herzog & de Meuron. Its architecture combines classic brasserie-style elements with special design touches and adheres to the warmth and generosity of a beer hall. The combination of tradition and m
The concierge of our hotel recommended Volkshaus when we told him we were looking for authentic regional cuisine and he hit it out of the park! Wonderful dining experience in a beautiful brasserie setting offering courtyard outdoor option. We chose to dine indoors because it was slightly chilly. Our server was phenomenal and guided us perfectly in our meal and wine selections. I consider the prices moderate for dinner, about 100 Swiss francs per person if you include wine. Great dinner. Dear Volkshaus Guestwow, what an excellent feedback and we are so happy about it!Thank you so much and hope to welcome you soon back. With pleasure I will share your comment with by team. I tried the Roots restaurant. Very friendly service there. Was served nice cold coca cola with separate ice supplied. They try to become a Michelin star restaurant some time in the future. I tried the meal of the day, which looked good. It tasted alright.

The Brasserie Steiger is the choice for you, offering lunch with a classic metropolitan touch, and lending elegance to a casual dinner with friends or drinks after the theatre. The Brasserie offers a varied selection of specialties and wines from througho
Everything brasserie-style! The tartar with whiskey, the appetizer plate with tatar, salmon and cheese croquette were small but fantastic in taste. The dessert, apple beignets with cinnamon gelato fantastic! Service was excellent, and so was the wine selection. Not super cheap but worth it!Dear TheRealGelatoGirlThank you so much for your nice rating. We like!Best regardsYour Brasserie Team

My wife and I live in Basel and have been to most of the nicer restaurants. This is a new favorite. Very nice and knowledgable staff, excellent food, and they accommodated my wife's vegetarian diet with really great variety (instead of the usual single pasta dish option she's used to at many places). Will definitely be back. I highly recommend the 4-course surprise menu with wine pairing. Perfectly done!

A la carte menu in the Restaurant Zunftstube, value-for-money dining in the Bistro and exquisite wines are hallmarks of the state-of-the-art gastronomy in Basel's oldest guildhouse, with guaranteed market-fresh cuisine. Andreas Uebersax and his team prepa
I wanted to post this update to give this interesting place it's fair due. Last time we had large business group for dinner and it didn't go so well. The space itself is worth mentioning: beautiful antic tiled stove, modern mural on medieval theme, chandelier...This time it was a dinner for 2 and it was a very positive experience. Our dishes were perfectly executed and seasoned. Service was a bit of an issue at first as the lady did not speak/understood English well. That said once we got through the order taking it was good and attentive. Chef stopped by and checked on us. They offered 2 amuse bouches. Lobster and scallops were amazing however what it was served with I didnât like (tapioca, seaweed and fruit preserve). It was not complementary. My colleagueâs fish was divine.

The restaurant Atelier underlines the art and gallery orientation of the cultural guesthouse «Der Teufelhof Basel». Being the French word for an artistâs workshop, an atelier is the workplace of a creative person. Our guests staying in the restaurant Atel
I just love eating here The menu has always something interesting for me. I look for regional food and meat. I always get good help, what kind of wine to choose. Very friendly staff - I feel very welcome.

In «1777» we offer a cosmopolitan menu with the emphasis on European dishes. We are particularly influenced by Viennese coffee-house culture, with a modern twist, and by simple Mediterranean cuisine. Our menu changes in response to guestsâ requirements an
I have been going to 1777 since 2015, i have been with friends, family or alone, and after all these years i have decided to finally write a review. This is a place which is in a beautiful stunning courtyard, in the midst of basel, one can come here for lunches, for an apero or just for a coffee and cake!the selection they have is wonderful and clear, from salads and sandwiches ( which you can modify as you wish ) to burgers and pastrami-sandwiches to these apero âplättliâ with meats and cheeses, to a glass of wine.the service is excellent, kind and attentive & i do really enjoy coming here as the atmosphere and ambience is extremely enjoyable.i do recommend this gem to anyone who is looking for fresh, very well priced but âfast-comingâ food. And of course if you would want to, very healthy, salads or such(but the burger is extremely good though...).thanks to all the people who have made all these stays/food-experiences great!

I live in New York City and letâs just start by saying Iâm a food snob. I hate playing high prices for a poor meal. I had such hopes for Ufer7. It got great reviews on this site. Ufer7 sits right on the Rhine River in Basel. We arrived at 7:30 pm on a Friday night. The terrace was hopping. The inside of the space is stucco with wood tables and bare decorative bulbs. I little jarring for my taste. The menu lists multiple small items to share on a platter. We choose two to start with. Falafel and a mushroom soup option. The menu was in Swiss German so it was a little tricky. The top of the menu says food should be pleasing to the eye then the tongue. The food looked great but it all tasted like sandpaper. The falafel was dry and tasteless and I could not discern a mushroom taste in the soup. We shared a fresh fish plate which was composed of shrimp with the heads on, red rice, bok choy and salmon. All very boring. The meal was followed by two slices of carrot cake that I could swear came out of the freeze. You know that sort of wet dense freezer burn taste. Either way I took one bite and decided it was not worth the calories! What were the good points? The staff, they were lovely and helpful. I was a little surprised when the bill came to 142 Franks for 2 glasses of wine, 2 appetizers a dessert and a tea. Not way out for Swiss restaurants but when I gave the waitress 150 F she just walked away with the change. As an American I would have tipped but assuming you should just take a tip is a little off putting. Iâm hoping the chef was sick that night and they will be on their game in the future otherwise definitely not worth it except for drinks on the terrace.
