Find out what Swedish restaurants to try in Vaxholm. Vaxholm is known as the “gateway to Roslagen” because it is a hub for travel to most of the islands in the Swedish archipelago. Vaxholm itself is comprised of about 70 small islands, all of which can be explored on foot. There are shops, restaurants, and cafés for those looking to take a coffee break. For those interested in military history, a ferry runs to the tiny island of Vaxholmen, home to a major 17th century citadel also known as Vaxholm Castle (Vaxholms Kastell in Swedish).

Good classic fried herring with mashed potatoes and lingon berries. Grilled salmon also good. The staff of friendly young students unfortunately was not well instructed and had to be reminded more than once of what we had ordered, delivered the starting drinks together with the meals and the meal drinks when we had almost finished, etc.

The location of Winberg is right at the sea port of vaxholm. There was an erected tent that I had my food in it. I am not sure if this structure is permanent or just temporary for the summer time. The place and most of tables were dirty. The burger I ordered and fries were greasy.

Everytime we are in Stockholm there is a must to go out to Waxholm to walk around and have a lunch at Waxholms Hotell Restaurant. Ask for "Stekt strömming" and you will try a Swdish national dish. You sit in the harbor overlooking the boating with tourists to the Stockholm archipelago. Dont miss!

We dined here on our last night in Sweden, after a visit to pretty Vaxholm, as âsomething differentâ. And it certainly was!The establishment is a private house and there are only three dining tables. We started with a homemade cocktail on the verandah followed by a three course meal inside. The menu is limited and diners need to agree on what they are going to eat, as everyone has the same. We had one bottle of wine, and one of our party had dessert. The entrée was prawns in a sauce, the main was white fish with roe, and the third course was baked cheese. The chef was running into the garden to get fresh herbs for each dish, all of which were quite small. It was pleasant but the cost was not â for four people, just under 5000 krone.Give it a go if you have a big wallet.

Such a shame..... the food is serious and good tasting but waiting for 90 minutes brings down or even crashes the experience. I would have love to top rank the place but cannot recommend anyone without an abundance of time and patience to visit. But if you do and have the food or will be all good

I have been here for dinner a couple of times and I have always had a very good experience. Last time I got the chance to try the new menu. Took the pike-perch which was delicious! All portions where very (maybe a bit too) generous and my friends and myself did unfortunately not have any room left to try the deserts. Next time!Dishes I recommend:- Pike-perch- Stekt strömming- Burger

The fortress of Vaxholm is the perfect place for big events. The possibilities are many and there is room for different kinds of events for up to 4000 guests. The fortress also offers conference rooms and Kastellets culinary pride "Restaurant Armoured bat
Recently our family, including 3 children--7-9 years, visited Vaxholms Kastell. We enjoyed taking the short ferry ride to the Kastell and exploring the Kastell and area around it. I would recommend doing this if you visit Vaxholms. Ferries run frequently in the summer so it's very simple to get there.

Bistro Magasinet is located on the third floor of our building and on the second floor we have a big roof terrace with an amazing view over Waxholm old fortress. It's the prefect place to enjoy a glass go wine and a delicious meal. Here you can sit back,
Visited Vaxholm on a lovely sunny day in May and we stumbled across Bistro Magasinet and decided to have lunch. The views from the terrace were superb and the staff so friendly and welcoming. We opted for the homemade Köttbullar which were totally awesome with lovely potatoes, lingonberry and picked cucumber and some local beer.By the time we left the place was heaving and the other food on the menu looked and smelled delicious, the salads and the toast Skagen definitely caught my eye!
