This rustic cafe in Bunge, opposite the open air museum, does the best saffron pancakes - freshly made and warm, with those local red berries (salmbar?) and whipped cream. If you are going to try saffron pancakes whilst on Gotland I recommend you have them here. The cafe also does various filled rolls which looked good, and I wish we'd stayed there for lunch, as we found nothing in Farosund. The museum opposite is excellent too, and it's well worth spending an hour or two there.

WOW!! Everything was perfect (well, almost)..the inside of the restaraunt was warm & inviting. The drink list (in the bar, on the wall) was so exciting that I wanted one of each. The staff was accomodating and personable! We started with the Sushi ..chefs choice..interesting, creative and delicious! Then the seafood platter. Everything was really good- the extra glass jars with yummy fish mixtures was very charming. Here's where we went wrong though...the ice melted really quickly and the shellfish were soaked in ice water...okay..I know, I know..fish live in water :) But being soaked in ice water just made them..soggy :( Too bad, as everything else was so wonderful!
Imagine you’re on an island, far from home, and you visit a restaurant when your wife has a splitting headache. You pay before you sit or eat (with a 15% tip in advance), then you ask the hostess if they have an aspirin for your wife, and the reply is “yes, but we don’t give any out”. Then you ask “why, it’s just an aspirin?”, but you get no explanation. That’s how I’ll remember Gåsemora, unfortunately, as the place in Fårö with intentionally stupid service. What’s the cost of an aspirin? Would have meant the world for my wife.

I saw another review that said this was a typical roadside diner, and that is spot on. It is not cozy and not special in any way. They have nice staff. I give an extra star for their menu; besides what is always found on a roadside diner, they had some fresh alternatives: a vegetarian red root beef with goat cheese (it was great), lamb beef (good but would benefit from more spices), one indian and one thai dish that gave their menu a good variance. We stopped here twice, and will stop here next time we're visiting Fårö.

After a long and exhausting Kaure visit nearby we dropped in at Lauters for coffee and cakes. Lauters is a tranquil place around a ruin. Scenic with a view to sea, sheep and flowers we found peace and quiet, nice coffee, excellent cakes and we left with re-charged batteries. Later we decided to go back for dinner and stumbled into their regular barbecue night with mexican-style bar including two charming bartenders. All fine, but change the music or upgrade the loudspeakers please. All we could hear was the bass. And mexican-style bass is pretty repetitive....

We were visiting Farosund with friends. After getting off the ferry and being hungry, we saw this little cafe on the corner of the street. It is small and all the tables were full, both inside & out. We figured this must be a good place to grab a bite. It certainly was. All the food is fresh made & the breads are fantastic. The place is a bit eclectic, which made it more enjoyable. The staff were very friendly and happy to help. The quality and the size of the servings are well worth the price.

We had two dinners, two breakfasts and a lunch here. A small restaurant but with very good and well-cooked food, nicely presented. Well worth a visit.

Well deserved! A galette (savoury crêpe) will be perfect for lunch and it will fill you up because the dish is very generous. If you just want to have something sweet, take the sweet crêpe (same size, different topping). The atmosphere reminds some place on the desert part of the Route 66. Very picturesque.

We went for lunch and had pizzas and lasagne. The lasagne (not homemade) was very small, not even half of a normal portion. Pizzas had good size but bad ham. Prices were high. They only accepted cash - no cards.
