We would not have ventured into this traditional local restaurant had we not been taken there by some locals. It is not the usual tourist touting establishment but is well known to the locals. The meals were ordered for us in Japanese, so I am not sure how much English is used here. We had a Charasi rice bowl made up of the freshest variety of sashimi on a bed of hot Japanese sushi rice served with piping hot miso soup on the side. The serving was very generous too. Location is perfect for a quick meal before heading off to the station, only a few minute walk and onto a train. Highly recommended and still thinking of the delicious meal we had there.
A small restaurant that is money for value. Though the sushi rice could not be compared with the masterpieces, the fishes meat on top are excellent.
Just have dinner at O-zushi (Dai sushi in japanese). The food was really marvellous, i mean, everything i ate and drank...even the green tea served for free. The rice there is world renouned, thus the taste of the sushi rice there is, i must say "elegant", not too hard or too soft, not to sweet or plain. fish and seafood matched very well. Most importantly, of course, is the skills of the sushi masters. Sake, made by the top class rice, is of course of top grade. Do try the local ones, which is again, "fully body" yet "elegant". A bonus is, they provided home made dessert. We had fig ice-cream which gave our most satisfactory dinner the best ending. As i am staying in Yuzawa for a week, i will definitely visit again in this trip.

We go to Yuzawa about once a year, and always eat here at least 2-3 times. It´s a nice shop with friendly staff and really good sushi. If you don´t know any japanese they have an english menu and also the staff offers their help to order from the chefs in the middle of the conveyorbelt (if they are not too busy, i think). You can of course pick the small sushi-plates from the belt if you don´t feel like ordering directly from the sushi chefs. I recommend the negitoro rolls (minced fatty tuna & green onion) and the more expensive o-toro and chu-toro nigiri (fatty tuna belly). They melt in your mouth.

Our family of four were in Yuzawa for a few days skiing stayingbat Naspa. But food in Naspa was so-so, catering mainly to its captive market of hotel ski packages so we made plans to dine out every nite. But many restaurants in Yuzawa dont take reservations just walkins but Kamakura does.Abt 100m past the train station but so worth it.It was full on a sunday nite and a few locals were turned away. Lucky we made a reservation via naspa. We ordered almost everything off the menu.We ordered the DIY wagyu beef grilled over a hot stone. It was so good that we wanted a 2nd order but they ran out.The robotaki was well done, smoky and yet still succulent. The copper kettle rice was just niigata rice done plain and simple, u will savour every grain. Rice will never be the same again.Sashimi was as fresh as you can find in japan.Even the humble karaage fried chicken was cracking and yet still juicy inside.Yuzawa may be a small town but it was a croaching tiger hidden dragon in Kamakura. And all that came to just jpy9k. Less than buffet dinner for 1 pax at naspa.
