Tokyo has several competitors in town, but they tend to give off a chain vibe and feature super oily fare. Tokyo has a local feel and a more balanced menu. Bonus points for the udon.

We went out for drinks and some food. I was pleasantly surprised by this small, buy quality place! The food was great and the service was too!! I highly recommend it!!!

The food is great, altough the soy sauce is not excelent, they should put a little Orange and lemon as is propper to, otherway tastes too salty.A little overpriced compare to other restsurants, and has this bleach smell a little to strong for the eating mood.

Where can you go to satisfy your sushi craving without breaking the bank? Hokkaido in Tuscaloosa, AL, of course! With some of the best, freshest sushi in the area and a delicious hibachi grill, you'll get your fill at Hokkaido.
Hokkaido never disappoints! Fridays and Saturdayâs usually have a ridiculous wait time but the wait is worth it! Helpful staff and lots of fun! Only reason I wouldnât rate excellent is because of parking.. they need to figure out something. Itâs way to crowded on the weekends.

I don't know what accounts for the high reviews here. I thought it was just average college town food. The spicy chicken coconut milk soup was simply salty and underflavored otherwise. The very spicy stir fried beef with lettuce wraps came with hard cabbage wraps instead and wasn't spicy at all--again, just salty. Decent wine by the glass and nice service, but stay away if you know real Thai food.

We had several people suggest this restaurant. The service was ok overall. A few things to note: the entree order was incorrect- instead of Mahi we got very rare Ahi; salad portion was very small; and it was difficult to get attention of wait staff. I visit the area at least once a month, probably will not go back.
