We actually ate there twice for convenience, so the food was not bad at all. It is just not nearly as great as the reviews indicate. Good fish, but not all of it expertly cut. Good rice, but nor great. Reasonable rolls, but not inspiring. In NYC it would rank as a pretty average place. I often regret that there is no grade b/w average and very good ( I think there should be), that is what the place deserves.

I have family in North Cape May and we visit most weekends during the summer. In earnest, I find a hard time finding good Chinese food anywhere south of Courthouse (or any ethnic food outside of Italian for that matter). Maybe there is another Chinese food restaurant with better food in Cape May, but I haven't found it. Asian Palace is as good as it gets down here. I've had better Chinese food, but the food at Asian Palace is not bad. It's better than your average neighborhood Chinese take-out. They have brown rice, which is a preference of mine that most other Chinese restaurants in the area do not carry. My family usually gets bean curd vegetable soup, pineapple fried rice with chicken. I usually get the bean curd with broccoli and garlic sauce. It's our go to Chinese food place at the shore. If you're looking for tasty neighborhood Chinese restaurant food, this is it.

Our menu is a sharing menu, featuring local ingredients and an interesting presentation. The bar features local Craft beer and spirits in the trip- state region. The concept is focused on local ingredients with an artists touch.
We LOVED our experience at Iron Pier! Prepare your wallet - a lot of reviews have called this place pricey, but you're paying for delicious food & amazing service (you're going to want to tip your server ALOT, seriously). We were surprised that you had to walk up a flight of stairs to reach it (which is the ONLY reason I knocked off a star. I take accessibility seriously & it's so sad that not everyone would be able to make it here for a meal!). It was a busy evening & the hostess said it would be a 30 minute wait. After a moment, she returned & let us know that someone had JUST decided to skip dessert & we could be seated as soon as their table was cleared. I didn't catch her name, but she was very friendly and chatted with us and kept an eagle eye one the table for the moment we could be seated. We had an AMAZING view of the ocean in the balcony area and got to watch a thunderstorm roll in with dinner (A+ Mother Nature!). The seating seemed tight & I was concerned I'd constantly have to scooch my chair forward to let people pass, but I never did & the flow of people/service was never interrupted. They must take service here very seriously. I overheard other servers & they all seemed very kind, knowledgeable & concerned with the guest experience, but the star of the evening was our server, Spencer. Spencer, you get SEVEN STARS, man! He had the entire balcony area rolling with laughter (the WHOLE balcony, which included at least two other servers' tables - he was contagiously wonderful). I've never felt more like a server was wholeheartedly interested in my enjoyment & excited for me to be there. When he brought the dessert menu he'd accidently given us the dessert drinks menu instead of the food dessert menu. When he returned, we were fully prepared to order delicious coffees (see below), but asked if there was also a food menu. Spencer realized that he'd only given both us & our neighbors the drinks menu (they'd also happily ordered coffees) so he stepped over to get their attention too and recited the entire dessert menu to us all from memory. We have never tipped anyone in our lives as well as we tipped him (& I've worked in service, so we always err on the side of generous) & we weren't the only ones - after he took the checks away for us and the table next to us, we overheard the couple at the other table tipped him epicly as well. Thank you, Spencer, for a WONDERFUL evening! We loved the food and drinks too! No pics of our share because we were too busy digging in! We ordered the Southside and French 75 cocktails, which were both delicious. They bring the food out as it's ready, whether or not you order tapas items. So our shareable truffle fries came out first. They were hot & perfectly crispy & absolutely delightful. We plan to have a french fry bar at our wedding and I told my fiance we should make the whole bar THESE fries! Next came my fiance's Miso Glazed Black Pearl Salmon main. He's not a big coconut fan, but he loved the coconut Jasmin rice. The salmon was cooked to perfection and the flavors of everything were wonderful. I helped him with a couple bites of that before my Spicy Orange Chicken main came out. We didn't mind the slight delay because it meant each dish came out hot and tasted like it was intended when it reached the table. The chicken thigh was perfectly juicy and flavorful - it was not "hot" spicy - it just has a little kick. The smashed red potatoes were phenomenal and as weird as it seemed to eat them alongside the orange chipotle chicken jus, it WORKED. The meals were perfectly sized to be satisfying without making you over-full, so we were able to clean our plates of every morsel & had no qualms about ordering dessert. We shared the chocolate tart with a scoop of lavender honey gelato and a scoop of espresso crunch (or something like that) gelato. It was so good!!! Again, it came out hot - the melted chocolate mixed so well with the cold gelato & all the flavors worked so well together. We also ordered an Irish Coffee and a Godiva Cappuccino. Both were delicious & generously sized. Those were the only part of the meal left unfinished because we were stuffed!Kapri, we can't thank you enough for taking time to write us such a wonderful review. We are so happy you loved everything from the view, drinks, food, desserts to of course, service. We are not surprised to hear positive feedback about Spencer because he always makes everyone happy. We are so lucky to have him. Once again, thank you for this great review and we hope to see you back at the IP sometime soon!
