Where to eat Sushi food in Mahe Island: The Best Restaurants and Bars

May 11, 2020 Jacquiline Darosa

Reviews on Sushi food in Mahe Island, Seychelles. The Seychelles largest and main island, Mahe is home to the capital of Victoria and about 70,000 people (almost 90% of the nation's total). Still, the island retains its idyllic beauty, with 3,000-foot mountains and scores of gorgeous beaches. Many plants, including the so-called Jellyfish Tree and several rare orchids, are unique to Mahe's shores. The Seychelles Natural History Museum, the Botanical Gardens and the Codevar Craft Centre, all in Victoria, are not to be missed.

Our Teppanyaki fine dining option restaurant. The word Teppanyaki is derived from teppan, meaning iron plate and yaki, which means grilled or broiled. Guests will have the chance to interact, while enjoying our wines & sake, prior to the Teppan show by ou

We came for the grill show, which was nice and entertaining, but the food was mediocre. I understand, this is Seychelles - everything is overpriced and lacks quality, but still... If you grill prawns long enough they will be overcooked. If you don’t grill beef long enough it will raw inside - medium means a specific temperature and color, especially given low quality of meat. Plain fried rice isn’t a proper course. Sashimi should be made out of specific parts of high quality fish - it should look fresh. When serving wine you can’t open a new bottle and refill my glass - just don’t do this in a restaurant.Overall, it was fun, but wouldn’t come again for food.Dear Fearless535201,Thank you for your feedback. We are very disappointed to hear of your experience at Seyshima. This does not come anywhere near our standards of service. We will definitely have a coaching and mentoring session with our chef and team and share your feedback with them. Please feel free to email me at [email protected] further comments.Thank you as we take your input with serious consideration.Kind regards,Melissa

Peaceful experience with v good service but the food, whilst ok, did not justify the additional expense - too much style over substance.

So I recently submitted a review for Club Liberte and mentioned that they had a restaurant that I’d like to come back and try - this is it.I found this little restaurant by accident when I visited the casino for a little guilty pleasure of mine. Had a great time then, so I convinced a colleague of mine to come with me for dinner at 5 Spices restaurant at Club Liberte which the staff had told me so much about! Apparently the best sushi on Mahe!!They did not disappoint. The menu is very cosmopolitan - the al le Carter dishes reflect various cuisines from around the globe, french, turkish, Indian to name a few but they also have a separate, very good sushi menu. My colleague and I both had sushi starters - I had the Tuna Poke bowl and she had the Spicy crunchy tuna. Whilst she assures me the Tuna was delicious, I doubt it beat my tuna poke bowl - man, the chef is a genius. Absolutely amazing! We both had fish for mains - snapper - which was very very good and I pigged out by finishing with a Turkish coffee infused panna cotta which was awesome. As I have said before, the staff here are exceptional and work hard to make sure we had everything on time. Even the GM got involved when he came over to introduce himself and see that everything was OK - he ended up ‘bussing’ our table and took away empty plates .. you don’t often see that!!If I have one criticism is that it felt a little open as you sit in the restaurant - maybe they can put up some plants in walk way just to shield diners from casino and people passing down walk way to rest rooms. Other than that, I heartily recommend this and will come back again before I leave.Dear SirThank you for the well written, concise review, which is not only positive and helpful feedback for us, but excellent advice to fellow travellers.Your comment on the restaurant area being too open is also very helpful and we will look into ways to make the area a little more private and shielded from the flow of traffic to the toilets.Though I am not on the island at the moment, our GM is and if you present yourself to him, I am sure he will be happy to offer you a complimentary drink.Once again my thanks for the relevant reviewJake
