Find out what Sushi restaurants to try in Leiden. Home to the Netherlands’ oldest university and the birthplace of Rembrandt, Leiden also served as a several-year stop-off between England and the New World for America’s Pilgrim fathers in the early 17th century. Today, lovely Leiden boasts the second-largest Dutch city center after Amsterdam. The National Museum of Antiquities has an impressive collection of Egyptian artifacts. The Hortus Botanicus, established in 1590, was the site of the planting of Holland’s first tulip bulbs in 1593.

This is a tiny little sushi restaurant, it seems mainly thriving on take away. The sushi is of average quality compared to Dutch standards. A big disadvantage is that they don't serve alcoholic beverages. On a positive point, the green tea is good. The place is extremely small so don't count for sure on a seat. Some sushi certainly had too much mayonnaise in them. And if you don't wave for attention they will not come to your table even though it is so small. They are very friendly, but you shouldn't be in a hurry. To compare it with other Leiden sushi restaurants is not easy since there are not much better alternatives. Shabu Shabu has a better price quality ratio for big eaters, but it is far too busy there so you can't have a conversation and on Friday and in weekends you are almost literally pushed out if you don't finish in your allotted time. For me the best sushi restaurant in Leiden is still Ichi Ban, this is also equally small, but the have better sushi and they serve good whine, beer and sake.

We made a booking last thursday to have some sushi and sashimi at Yuiki Sushi - the sushi was made fresh in front of our eyes (we sat at the bar), it was gorgeous, fragrant and fresh - totally yummie

All-you-can-eat Sushi & Japanese delicacies, part of a chain of shabu shabu restaurants in the Netherlands
first, i'd like to start by saying that i attempted to write this, directly, to the restaurant. privately. but there is no link for that. not a good sign when a place doesn't provide a channel for feedback. maybe this place has gotten TOO popular...Next, i'd like to say that i've eaten, either here or at the original site across the street, 100s of times...and have written a few glowing reviews, but...tonite...was a disaster...first, i made the mistake of going on father's day, not remembering it WAS father's day...so, at 5pm, when i got there, thinking i was early, the manager greets me at the door and asks if i have a reservation.i don't like making reservations...hence, i usu go at 'off hours'...before or after 'the rush'.i say 'no' and he explains that i can have a table for an hour.no problem...i can eat, easily within 45 minutes..exCEPT...there's a time limit on ordering...so, a few times, i had to wait to order...and THEN, towards the end, they messed up my order...so when it DID come i was VERY rushed...i'm sorry to say that it spoiled my meal...you can't have it both ways. you want to give less time than usual, fine... no time restriction, then. unless you just don't care about your customers, having gotten too popular...feel free to answer here, since i had to write this in public...
