We were a large family group who came in for dinner on a weekend night. Friday through Sunday, the all you can eat dinner is $25/person with a gratuity of 18% added to the bill. Monday-Thursday is ten bucks less for dinner. If not eating all you can eat, an a la carte option exists and a menu will be brought to you. There is also a robust list of drinks available to order and a bar area off the entrance to the restaurant. The all you can eat option comes with a kitchen and a sushi checklist menu. The kitchen appetizers were hit or miss. The edamame was overcooked and the ribs were too chewy, but the shumai and gyoza were great. There are katsu and tempura options, as well as teriyaki. There are soups and udon dishes, and fried tofu. The tuna tartar and salmon carpacio were tasty. We were satisfied with the kitchen dishes. The sushi menu is lengthy with many specialty rolls. We ordered large platters of rolls and all were delicious. The service here is attentive and quick, but as a large group of 16 people, food was service was uneven, with some people in the group getting many dishes while others sat waiting and salivating. All diners should be served at once, not in spurts. Also, we placed orders as tables of four, so in four sections, and some orders got mixed up during service. One sushi order was lost, which was very odd.All in all, this is a great value for dinner, especially on weeknights. Although service is attentive, servers and the kitchen were overwhelmed by our large party and did not merit the 18% mandatory gratuity. I think if we were a smaller party, we would not have experienced the hiccups we did.

If you go for the hibachi dinner you'll get to share celebrations by other groups - birthdays, promotions,engagements...and sometimes noisy too. Still watching the hibachi chef prepare your meal, juggling eggs, chopping meats on the grill, squirting mysterious seasonings on the food as well as rice wine into the open mouths of eager customers is always fun and feels like a little feast.

Pebbles Asian Fusion

Highly recommend and will return.Ordered: Tuna and Salmon Sashimi, Latham Roll, Pebbles Roll, Tomato and Eggs, Pebbles ChickenHighlights: clean, quick service, DELICIOUS, helpful/aware/attentive staff, good sound level and good lighting (natural and fixtures). We were seated quickly and served quickly. The spice on the pebbles chicken was excellent. The ginger, onions, and garlic with that brown sauce was delectable. Every piece made me want the next piece more and more. Everything tasted balanced and worked together just right. The chicken was also exceptionally well cooked and tender. The Egg and Tomato is a simple dish, making it hard to get just right. Just the right amount of salt and consistency of the sauce, balancing the tomato and the egg, the texture of the eggs, so many small things to make it just right. The texture of the eggs and lack of oiliness of the dish was exceptional. Pebbles did an excellent job, the best eggs and tomato I have had outside of Taiwan. The fish (sashimi) was perfect. After I had the first couple hot savory dishes I expected nothing less in sashimi and sushi. The fish was perfectly fresh and just what I want out of some good cuts of salmon and tuna. I lean toward salmon and I was very happy savoring these fine cuts. The rolls were very well presented and great taste followed the visual appeal. There were some beautiful little tomato bunnies on the sushi platter, from which I devoured their ears before the bodies! I loved the tempura style. Topped with such accents as salmon roe and very finely cut green onion, the tastes were all present and distinct, not muddied like many modern cheap sushi joints.Bathrooms were clean and modern. The parking was private lot, easy parking. Entire restaurant was very clean.I spoke with the chef after the meal and they source many of their meats and vegetables from farmers markets. You can really taste the quality of the eggs and chicken in my dishes. They were very friendly and I was happy they were willing to give me a couple minutes of their time, I can tell they love their restaurant.

Yang's Asian Bistro

Too tired to cook last Friday evening, friend and I decided to try Yang's Asian Bistro in Newton Plaza. Vehicles were double parked to pick up take out. Finally we found a parking place. Having decided to eat early, we entered a bright, cheerful dining room with views of the sushi kitchen and the small but packed bar. We were quickly escorted to a booth with a spot to park my walker. Our waitress was there immediately to ask if we wanted drinks and to answer any questions. Ordered 2 white wines, water and looked over the menu. It was hard deciding because of the so many options: sushi, hibachi, chinese..... Note, no hibachi tables as they prepare it in the kitchen (fine with me as I prefer not to smell like my dinner). Served with clear soup, a crisp salad, and a delicious dinner. We were pleasantly surprised. But, as we watched the servers go by with plates loaded with sushi and other great dishes, decided we have to return to try other options. Because we chose to eat early, we were immediately seated. By the time we left, a little after 7 p.m. all tables were happily occupied. A definite return or take out: Yes.

We sat at the sushi bar and ordered 4 rolls; the spicy tuna, Alaska roll, shrimp tempura, and spicy scallop. We had the seaweed salad to start and that was amazing! We always have the spicy tuna when we get sushi and this was by far the best I had ever tried. They don't much it up like other places do and didn't put gross crunchies in it. The scallop spice was awesome. I honestly loved all of it. We will be returning!

Sake

When I first walked in & said table for one, the gentleman, who looked like he might be the manager, immediately asked me whether I wanted to sit in the bar area. I thought this was a little presumptuous, just because I was a single diner... Anyway, I said I'd rather sit in the dining room, which did have available seating. My sushi was fine. While their clear soup was OK, it wasn't as good as Albany's Sushi Tei, which also provides spices as an option to put into the soup. FYI, they also offer hibachi cooking. The restaurant has large attractive rope chandeliers. I thought that playing rock and roll music (some of the time) took away from a relaxing atmosphere. Note if you're heading north on the Northway, you take a left off of Exit 6. You'll soon see a sign on the right side, saying "Quality Inn & Suites" with "Sake," in smaller letters, underneath. The staff told me both businesses have the same owner. Lastly, I asked, & Sake in Latham is NOT associated with Sake Cafe in Albany.
