Koi Japanese Buffet

Haven’t been here in quite a while. The selection is still good, the quality is still good, and the price is more then fair. Service is really good and WITH a smile. This is one of those places that from the outside has really NO “wow” factor, but once you go inside it’s really good.

Sakura Japanese Restaurant

I'm a basic burger find of person, and every once in a while my wife likes to venture away into more "exotic" cuisine, so she suggested that we go to Sakura's. We went here after church for lunch one Sunday and the crowd was very light. We ordered the lunch special and were not disappointed. The chef puts on a show, but having been here before I noticed that the show seemed cut short and not as entertaining, possibly since there were only 5 at our table and only one child. Kids love the onion volcano with the fire and the kid in me missed that. Food was good.

Taki

I decided to get some sushi to go after work on the way home. Beforehand I'd checked out on here and the reviews seemed favorable. I am a little annoyed that it's 2015 and this place doesn't have website, Facebook, blogspot with their menu listed. I was going to call on the way over to pick it up to speed up the process, but alas, I had to stop in and look at the menu then place my order. As some of the other reviewers stated, this place isn't that grand from the outside or the inside. I entered the restaurant around 6pm on a Monday. There were two people waiting on a to go order, and the rest of the people were employees or children of employees. This is a family run business, which is great, but I don't know if I would want to eat here with a tablet loudly playing. The woman who greeted me from behind the counter, or yelled from behind the counter asked what I needed. I told her I was going to place a carryout order and she told me where the menus were. I skimmed the menu and decided on the 'roll combo' which comes with a tuna roll, California roll and a yellowtail roll. It's an 18 piece deal for $11.99. I didn't see the part about the 18 piece, so I thought each roll was 8 pieces, but instead they are 6 pieces. I sat at the bar and waited for the order to be completed. It only took about 5-7 minutes for me to be out the door. The staff wasn't that friendly. I didn't feel that welcome at all. I headed home with my dinner. I was happy to see that they put a piece of cardboard between the sushi and the soup/salad so the hot soup doesn't make the sushi warm. I don't think the cardboard was useful though because the sushi was on the warm side. I popped it in the fridge for a little to cool it down. My thoughts on the rolls? They were average at best. I liked that they gave you a fair amount of ginger. The wasabi was not very spicy. I really don't have much else to say on the sushi itself. I have had sushi from a cheap, Chinese buffet that is on par with this sushi. I'm not sure if I came at an off time or if it's always like this. I don't think I will be back to try it again though.

Cascades American Cafe

Cascades American Cafe serves modern versions of classic American dishes in a dramatic atrium setting surrounded by soothing waterfalls. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The Cascades servers were very friendly but that does not make up for the food in an expensive place being mediocre. Dinner was OK, not the level we expected when we sat down. The breakfast buffet is just a normal buffet, expensive, but nothing extraordinary.

Wasabi's Sushi Bar

Reviewed By mintysnowflake7

I visited Wasabi’s Sushi/Cascades American Café while staying at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center for a work convention. I had an early dinner with some coworkers on our last day at the hotel prior to leaving Nashville. We had a pleasant experience, with generally good food and impeccable service. Some of my coworkers ordered burgers from the Cascades menu, and myself and a couple others opted for sushi. It’s nice you have the option to choose both while dining at one location, as (unfortunately for them) plenty of people don’t prefer sushi. Between the two menus, there would be something for anyone (although the sushi menu is somewhat small). The coworkers who chose burgers said they were good. We started with Edamame, which with two orders was plenty for the five of us. I chose the Spicy Tuna roll and the Crazy Ari roll. The Spicy Tuna was okay, but a little on the fishy (in a bad way) side and thus I didn’t finish it…kind of disappointing. The Crazy Ari (recommended by our excellent server) was delicious, especially the sauce. As far as options within the Gaylord, Wasabi’s/Cascades is a solid choice. It was definitely pricey, but the portions were decent, and the service was excellent. I would maybe recommend sticking with the Special Roll options. The ambiance was very nice; waterfalls all around, and really nice tables, some in cozy little nooks nestled beneath the rocks of the botanical garden. I would imagine these would be especially nice for drinks in the evening.I would generally go with 3, 3.5 stars, but I bumped it up to 4 based on the level of service.
